    Hi,
I just created a ticker and it's like the weight loss version of 'sticker shock.' I created the ticker and was shocked by how much I have to lose! What a blast of reality...

Seeing the numbers on paper or computer screen can be quite a shocker. But watching that number go down will be motivating!!

    Good luck on your journey!

I agree with Glenda, it is a big shock at first, but when you start seeing it go down it's a big reinforcer of what your doing is right.

Good Luck you will do great.

The best thing you can do right now, is acknowledge where you are and where your short term goals are.
My DG will not pull her head out of the sand and look at where she is right now.

It works both ways though! I was shocked to see I am nearly at half my goal!

But once I hit 145 I am changing it again to 135!!!

You can DO THIS! And the ticker will end up being motivating. I promise.

My weight loss is not nearly as fast as it was over a week ago. I only lost another two pounds, but man I LOVED seeing that ticker go down this morning.

I am totally with you and the ticker shock. It's almost like when you don't weigh yourself for a very long time, and you haven't been watching what you eat, and then you finally get on the scale and you want to cry. Yeah. I just created my ticker too......but I am trying to be positive, and I know it will feel good when it starts moving down, yeah!

When I first put up my ticker and it said 73 pounds I was shocked and overwhelmed by how much I had to lose. But now I look forward to updating it and it feels like a real accompishment that I am almost a third to my goal. I know that next year this time I will be a goal and the ticker will say 0 pounds to lose.

                Hi.

Thank you all so much. This is great. To those of you with the willpower to take on the lifechanging challenge of weight loss - thank you. You are an inspiration to those of us just starting out on this journey. It is so tough and all of the 'mini decisions' we make hundreds of times each day should all add up to results. After dinner I'm off to locate my gym gear. I'm worried about being on the inside of a gym after... well... too long to remember. I don't even know if I have shorts or pants to fit. Maybe that would be a good mini-goal reward - some workout clothes.

                Thanks again. S-

                  Re: ticker shock

I did the eaxct same things for 115lbs to be lost. In the back of my mind I think I still see that I am 185lbs but I was 250lbs. When I saw my ticker say 115lbs to lose I called my pseudo-adoptive mom and said OMG Liz did I really let myself go THAT badly and she said do you want truth or a lie. I said truth its time to face it. She said Mirya I have told you now fr 4 years you were gaining weight and would need to loose some if you didn't want health issues later but never said how bad it looked. She told me your still a pretty girl but you aren't honestly as attractive but thats to be expected.

I just never realized that I now have to suck in to get past certain areas in her house that I used to just walk right through like laa dee daa....

The moral of the story is We lie to ourselves more than others will when it comes to weight.
