I have done cardio in the recent passed (before starting the diet) and I can usually go for quite awhile, it's work but it's not too bad. Since I have been on this diet I notice that when I do things like go up stairs or go to do my cardio at the club I feel really week and it is waaaay harder for me. Does anyone know why this would be and what I might be able to do about it? I take a Centrum Silver Vitamin each day. Is this something that is common on this diet in the beginning and then changes or do I need to get some kind of suppliments other than my Centrum?

Post your menu in the "Review My Menu" forum, it could be you aren't eating enough food.

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
And, you've only JUST recently gotten your menu right. So, you're probably beginning to experience some of the lethargy of detoxing from the carbs. It's going to take a while. Possibly even the full two weeks. You WILL get your energy back, PLUS SOME, I promise. Make sure, though, that you are eating plenty of food. As not2late said, you need to eat FOOD to FUEL the cardio you are doing.~Joy

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
Thanks for the advice!
Yesturday I ate about 12 deviled eggs (6 whole eggs) and lettuce wraps filled with hamburger, cheese and sour cream (lots of these!).
I ate another lettuce wrap this morning so far and I have deviled eggs already made from yesturday that I am planning on eating for lunch and then will snack on some cheese for dinner if I am hungry by then (the eggs keep me very full!) I guess I could eat some vegetables since the wraps aren't giving me enough of them. Maybe I'll add some broccoli instead of cheese, or better yet, I'll have some cheese on my broccli
I can't eat anymore than this because the food is soooooo filling!!!! As long as I am full I would think that I am eating enough?
I am also going to the club to work out again tonight. I have been doing a very small amount of cardio and then doing weights the rest of the time since the cardio makes me feel so weak! I use to do a half hour to 45 minutes of cardio and then a half hour of weights but now I am only doing 5 minutes of cardio and then a half hour of weights. I would really like to start going to arobics classes but won't even try until I can get on a machine and make it through a half hour again since those classes are usually harder than any machine.
I hope that you are right and it goes away after another week or so. I am not planning on going out of induction at all until I hit my goal on February 27th. Does the weekness go away because you are off of induction? Or will it still go away after 2 weeks even if I stay on induction???Lisa Marie

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
Why are you planning on staying on induction for so long?
There are no benefits to extending induction unless you're metabolically resistant--meaning you did not lose a single pound on a clean induction. If you've lost weight, you need to move on to Rung 1 of OWL. Many people fear adding in carbs, but your carbs will be coming from another serving of vegetables. In fact, many people find that moving up to OWL actually jumpstarts or boosts their weightloss. It's common to hit a stall (Post-Induction Stall Syndrome) if you stay on induction for too long.
So, my advice is to make sure you're eating enough. Eat every few hours, even if it's something small, and if you're going to workout, eat 1-2 hours beforehand. Since you're eating mostly fat and protein, which are more slowly metabolized than carbs, it takes longer to get that "boost" of energy for a workout. Never go more than 6 waking hours without eating. If you're focusing on weights, all you need is a short warmup, 5-10 minutes. If you still have energy left over, then go and do your cardio AFTERWARDS.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
Lisa,
Also, make sure you are drinking enough water since based on your goal of losing 75 pounds you need to be drinking 88 ounces per day PLUS extra if you are doing vigorous cardio and sweating. Mild dehydration can certainly make you feel weak. When I do TaeBo I drink at least 12 ounces before I start, 8 ounces or so during and 16 ounces after. My daily water total is anywhere from 93 to 120 ounces
--just don't get too far from a bathroom...
A good way to know if you are drinking enough is if your urine is pale yellow when you go--if it is darker than that you are not adequately hydrated.

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
YOU HAVE TO eat the veggie. Its our primary source of carbs and we do need them. WITHOUT QUESTIONOriginally posted by coliderI guess I could eat some vegetables since the wraps aren't giving me enough of them. Maybe I'll add some broccoli instead of cheese, or better yet, I'll have some cheese on my broccli
I have had this as well. I feel liek I have to force myself to eat now and I hate it BUT its good. It means your in mypolosis which means ketosis is in effectOriginally posted by coliderI can't eat anymore than this because the food is soooooo filling!!!! As long as I am full I would think that I am eating enough?
MAKE YOURSELF eat. If you have to Eat every cpl of hours to keep that full feeling. Just don't overdo it. ALSO I drink 128oz a day but I only do light cardio for now.
This will stop once your totally detoxed from all the bad foods you have eaten. I am going through this too. I also plan on being on extended induction but I have had the same thing as you where my body is just now in my 2 week hitting full detox.Originally posted by coliderDoes the weekness go away because you are off of induction? Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
Very helpful posts!!!! Thank you
The reason I had planned on staying on induction was because I read someplace that I would lose more weight that way and I have such a big goal that I wanted to be sure to hit it (more important than anything to me)!!!
I have been wanting to add those one net carb wraps so that I can finally make myself sandwishes or breakfast burritos and things like that with them (that would be nice!). So I might just add those and then some more veggies (I think I already go over on veggies a few times a week already though).
I can' afford ANY stalls at all!!!!!!! Why do people have stalls? When do these usally take place? Is there anything that I can do to prevent these?Lisa Marie

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
Oh and just to be clear. I was only planning on staying on induction until I hit 165 pounds at the end of February and then entering into OWL until I hit 125 pounds in October. I picked October because I have wanted to wear a sexy halloween costume for sooooo long now for my husband
I can't wait!!!!!
I am going to read up on OWL right so that I understand what changes that would mean for me. Can I just kind of do OWL by just adding the wraps and more veggies and that is all? Will I ever be able to drink Crystal Light again in the other stages of the diet or is that always going to be off limits for me?Lisa Marie

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
This post explains what stalls, why, etc. I have been lurking the last cpl days checking out different areas and such. PISS: Post Induction Stall Syndrome happens to everyone at some point.

Also I wouldn't stay on induction too long as your body will become adjusted to the low carbs.

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
Crystal Light has aspartame which Dr. Atkins said to avoid. Also, the wraps would not be legal until you are in OWL 9. Also, I lost 6.5 pounds in induction and the other 16 in OWL so your losses will not stop! I also notice that you are planning to lose almost twenty pounds in a month...everyone losses at a different rate but we have very similiar stats and following Atkins to a tee I am losing 5 -7 pounds a month. I don't say this to discourage you, I just want you to have realistic goals so you don't get down. If you do lose the 20 pounds a month you need to send some of your luck my way...lol!

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
None of us are guaranteed to lose weight any faster by staying on induction. Many members have found that they actually lose faster by moving into the Ongoing Weight Loss phase after the first two weeks. Our bodies are very different from each other, and the weight loss will be what it will be. You can't control whether you lose 1 pound or 12 pounds a week. You CAN control what you put in your mouth, and how much you move your body though. Those are positive actions to help you get to your goal.Originally posted by coliderThe reason I had planned on staying on induction was because I read someplace that I would lose more weight that way and I have such a big goal that I wanted to be sure to hit it (more important than anything to me)!!!
The wraps are not allowed until you get to Rung 9 of Ongoing Weight Loss. This will be very close to entering premaintenance. So, the wraps aren't allowed for quite some time. If you still plan to do extended induction, they aren't allowed at all. Extended induction is still the same as induction, it's just following those rules for longer than the 14 days that is prescribed by Dr. A.Originally posted by coliderI have been wanting to add those one net carb wraps so that I can finally make myself sandwishes or breakfast burritos and things like that with them (that would be nice!). So I might just add those and then some more veggies (I think I already go over on veggies a few times a week already though).
Unfortunately, we don't get to choose when our body loses weight, or when it does not. All we can control is what we put in our mouths. As long as you follow the plan the way Dr. A prescribes, it will work. What's NOT guaranteed is whether you will lose weight or not.Originally posted by coliderI can' afford ANY stalls at all!!!!!!! Why do people have stalls? When do these usally take place? Is there anything that I can do to prevent these?
I think you are setting completely unrealistic goals, here. I want to see you be happy and successful and the weight loss permanant. However, when we set unrealistic goals, we are setting ourselves up to fail right from the get-go. That's not fair to ourselves or to the plan. I do set goals to lose x number of pounds, but i don't put time frames on them. As long as I follow the plan, exercise, and be HONEST with myself about those two things, the plan will work and I will lose weight. It just happens according to my body's whim.Originally posted by coliderI was only planning on staying on induction until I hit 165 pounds at the end of February and then entering into OWL until I hit 125 pounds in October. No, the OWL rungs are prescribed in a certain order for a certain reason. They are added back in according to their impact on our blood sugar and insulin. If you jump right to grains (wraps), those have the HIGHEST impact on our blood sugar without being real flour/sugar. I found that I have a food allergy to wheat. Every time I eat those wraps, I will jump up 2-5 pounds on the scale, and I'll bloat. I didn't find this out, though, until I was almost at goal, when I was losing weight VERY slowly. So, you don't want to mess up all the benefits of learning to support your weight loss in the long run, by doing it YOUR WAY with your own rules. You're going to put a lot of effort into this, I'm sure you want to do it the way that will maximize your weight loss and success, right?Originally posted by coliderCan I just kind of do OWL by just adding the wraps and more veggies and that is all? Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio
if its too long i dont know but it just doesnt make sense as u simply will not lose any faster.
at least move to rung 1, extra veggies dont hurt and the 5 net carbs wont either.
your goal, i must agree with the others, is very unrealistic, u know that is a LOT of weight to lose in such a short time and the more u lose, the slower it might go (not to discourage u).
u gotta give your body the time it needs to lose that weight, there is no way to force it anyway.
i was hoping to make it to goal in 6 months and guess what, its simply impossible and i figured that out now that im still 10kg from goal and my losses have slowed even though i do not cheat.
