Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio

Ok I didn't see these last two posts until I had already replied to my first one. The P.I.S.S. joke was to an earlier post that I got.

So NO WRAPS (other than lettice that is). Why does Subway sell a wrap that is said to be safe for after induction??? Should I stay away from those after induction until way later in OWL too??? They are misleading people then. I was all excited about going there and getting a wrap. BAD SUBWAY! Oh well, I actually don't mind lettuce wraps AT ALL! In fact they are one of my favorite things to eat now.

Check out the ingredients of the foods you are wondering about. If they're made with a food or ingredient or product not legal until a rung of OWL, then the food is not legal until that particular rung.

The LC wraps are made with some type of grain usually--wheat flour, oat flour, etc. That means, regardless of their carb count, they are NOT legal until the grains rung of OWL. Some wraps are made with only soy flour. These only-soy wraps would not be legal until rung 6 of OWL, legumes, but if the wraps contain wheat flour, guess what, they're not legal until rung 9.

Always check the ingredients, and that will tell you when it's appropriate to eat it (if ever!)

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio

The post I got that talked about losing only 5-7 pounds a month depressed me and now I can't get it out of my head. I have a brother inlaw on this diet who has lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks. I also saw someone elses (can't remember who it was) goals and they had 5 pounds each week listed for their goals and she had done it three weeks in a row so I thought I would aim high since I do need to get down to 170 pounds minimum by the end of February. I thank you for your concern with me being realistic with my goals and I understand that you don't want me to feel that I have failed and that is why you are concerned, thank you! I am going to keep my goals the same but I will also make a note to myself that it may not be possible to hit these number when I want to hit them by. I am going to start working out at the club everyday now and I am going to force myself to do my 30 minutes of cardio no matter how cruddy I feel while doing it. Working out works so great for me when it comes to water drinking! I can usually drink 48 ounces just while I am at the club working out. Love that part of working out! Water is the hardest part of this diet for me.

Probably because like many people out there with opinions about Atkins they havent read the book and think induction is just about staying under 20 net carbs!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

How about adding to your list of goals:
Do my 30 minutes of cardio every day
Drink all my water each day

Along with eating only to plan (another good achievable goal) these are 2 goals that you CAN achieve by your own efforts, unlike time/weightloss goals which depend on your body's reaction to a range of factors which you cannot govern.

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio

I didn't want my post to get you down...I am actually happy losing 5 -7 pounds a months as I know the weight will stay off as I am thinking of this in the long term.

I personally am tired of trying to lose weight quickly for the next big event, party, or function so I have decided to let my body take the weight off at a consistent and healthy level. That way I will never need to be in a rush to lose again as I will keep my weight (once I reach goal) within the 5 pound cushion Dr. Atkin's recommends and if I go higher I will hightail it into induction.

Would I like to lose more? Sure...but when I tell people I have lost 22 pounds in three months they are impressed as it is never easy to lose any amount of weight. I think it is important to be motivated but also realistic. I worry you won't lose as you hoped and will push your body to achieve something that is unhealthy or unreasonable....that's all.

You also owe it to yourself to read the book. I didn't the first time and here I am losing the weight again. Once you do you will understand OWL and when it is appropriate to add certain foods back in.

As for Subway, remember one thing. Subway doesn't exist to make you healthy, they exist to make money.

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio

Would it make anyone feel better if instead of saying that my goal is to get down to 165 pounds by February 27th, I said that my goal is to get from a size 16 to a size 10 or 12 ????? Or is this just as alarming?

I appreciate you worring and caring about me and I think that it is sweet and nice, but I am doing everything right. I am eating what I am suposed to, drinking my water and workingout everyday for an hour. There is no reason to think that I would do something to hurt myself.

I have three children and two of them are in diapers and only 13 months apart. Just the fact that I have been able to do this at all is actually pretty amazing because I also work 40 hours a week while watching my kids at the same time (No daycare). I am so proud of myself and if I don't hit my goals I won't be disapointed in myself because I know that I am doing the best that I can and so I lost the most weight that I could have possibly lost and how can I be upset about that? If I have to get my dress ultered or I have to buy a new dress that will suck and I hope that doesn't happen!!!! But my dress and this diet are two seperate things. I enjoy aiming for the stars weather it turns our or not. As I watch myself and how my body reacts to this diet I may end up changing my goals so that I can reach them but lets just see how it goes for the next couple of weeks for fun ay. I'm not losing anything by having high goals so why not.

I will have to think about the whole extended induction thing when that time comes but if it's really just more veggies than I will most likely step up to the next level because I am a stong believer in eating lots of veggies and couldn't imagine them hurting any diet!!!!

Thank you for taking an interest in me and my goals!!!!! I hope that you understand where I am at a little better now and aren't so worried

Re: Feeling weak when I do my cardio

We do sometimes start to worry when people post weightloss/time scale goals as we often see how not reaching that goal can send some people into a 'this diet isnt working so I might as well indulge in that (insert carby favourite here)' and give up Atkins completely.

It looks as if you understand that goals like losing a certain weight within a certain timeframe are similar to the theory of setting your sights on the stars while understanding that you might 'only' get to the moon rather than being set in stone, so I am sure you will not be one of those who fall into that trap
