  • Induction Allowable Cheese Question

    Hi Everyone~

I'm on Day 11 of Induction today, and would like to make a chicken & brocolli alfredo for dinner. My recipe calls for parmesean cheese, but parmesean is not listed on the allowable cheese list. I'd also like to have a 1 oz. slice of "american" cheese on a hamburger for tomorrow's dinner, but American cheese is not on the allowable cheese list either. American cheese also has no carbs list, and it definately melts better than cheddar cheese.

Is it possible to have a 1 oz. serving of parmesean & american cheese on induction? In my DANDR book, the #5 rule of induction says to "eat nothing that is not on the acceptable foods list. And that means absolutely nothing!" I still have 4 days of induction to go, so I don't want to mess up my induction now.

    Thanks for any help/suggestions.

    Re: Induction Allowable Cheese Question

Both Parmesan and American cheese are allowed on induction. They come under hard cheeses I think.

Kate is correct. The list says aged cheeses. Aged cheeses can be hard cheeses like Parmesan or soft cheeses like Brie--plus the in-between cheeses like Cheddar, Jack, etc.

Fresh cheeses like cottage cheese and ricotta aren't allowed during Induction. And imitation cheeses like "cheese products" such as Cheez Whiz or similar things aren't allowed either.

That clears things up for me. i wasn't entirely sure what "aged cheese" meant. And i'm very pleased to find out I can have brie and stilton

                  velveeta NOPE!

stay away from any cheeses that are readily grated, they always seem to add potato starch to them!

                  Parmesan is fine though

                    Hi,

Is feta (greek) considered to be a fresh cheese? Can I have it on induction? I'm thinking of baking it with some olive oil, oregano and tomatoe cut up.

                    Thanks. S-

                      Re: Induction Allowable Cheese Question

Feta is one of the fresh cheeses like ricotta and cottage cheese which dont become 'legal' till the dairy rung/level of OWL.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
