Hi Gang. I not really new to Atkins. Been on it 3 or 4 times over the years. Im back on it as of Jan.11/08. The question i have is about the pumkin receipe i have been reading about. My biggest problem has been what to eat in the morning. I get up at 5am for work and eggs just really get to me after a few days. The pumkin mixed with cream cheese, cinnomin, ect, sounds great. The problem is the pure pumkin in the grocery stores all show 2grms of sugar per 1/3 cup. Following the strict 14 induction i thought we had to stay away from all sugars,no matter how small the amounts were or it would stop Ketosis until the sugar is burnt up.Over the years of doing this diet if any product showed any trace of sugar i would put back on shelf.Appriate any feed back.
    Thanks

    Re: pumkin

Naturally occuring sugars are okay to eat. What you need to avoid is "added sugar". That is sugar added to a food.

So read the ingredients in addition to the nutritional label.

Thanks for asking this question. I was at the store yesterday and picked up some pure pumpkin, but was going to ask before I ate it!! Thanks Again!

Fried jack-o-lantern is delicious! It doesn't last as well as an intact pumpkin (with or without face paint, LOL). I kept one pumpkin, uncut, just as an experiment from Oct. through mid-April the following year; at that point it had a thumbnail-sized soft spot, so I cooked it then.
