  • Too much psyllium?

    I'm on day 13 about 10.5 pounds down but i'm having a pretty tough time using the bathroom lately.

    I made pancakes with psyllium, 2 eggs, cream and a little cream cheese about 3 times this week to see if that would help and i'm wondering what my limits on psyllium are?

    is it possible to have too much?
    205/155 (50lb to lose)---28, 5'7...NYC

    its always possible to have too much of anything...

    how much is going into each recipe? I cant really see it being a problem

      Are you making sure you get as much high fibre veg in as possible every day and drinking loads of water as well as taking the psyllium? Both help a lot.

        it should tell you the dosage on the back of the container. Some say mix with water mine are capsule that i swear were meant for a horse. lol 5 of those a day. I DON't THINK so. ill just eat a lot of veggies.

        ALSO MAKE sure if you use psyllium.... make surey you drink extra water throughout the day.

          The psyllium hasnt helped much
          it hasnt stalled my weight loss though so i guess thats good

          @ EMMA ...hi girl glad to see youre still here trucking along
          well for that receipe I put extra psyllium in so I used 4 tablespoons, but typically I had been using about 1-2 tablespoons to make the serving.

          @ kate58 ...i've been getting my veggies and downing about 4-6 liters of water a day (I KNOW--I'm pretty proud of myself). So I pee tons its just no....(you know)
          With all that water I figurd something would jiggle along but NADA

          @ mirya ...The container says to mis 1 tablespoon with 8 oz of water, 3 times a day which sounds like a lot so I thought I was ok. I just don't know if its too much for atkins?

            try some flaxseed with it. some people say that helps them more than psyllium or if you absolutely have to get like 1 dulcolax and take it. MAKE SURE when you do you do it when you will be around a restroom after 4-6 hours from taking it. Don't let yourself get too backed up. Thats not good. If the psyllium and flaxseed don't help you may need that to push you along <no pun intended> But remember if you weigh yourself AFTER a laxative you will gain a cpl while it reassembles.... hopefully if you take the psyllium everyday like that while your doing the diet it may help to keep you from having to do another laxative. Laxatives will cause weight gain and can become an unhealthy hbit so be careful
