Re: sugar free jell-o?
After 14 days you can try it and see if it stalls you, the only reason its a no is because it is sweetened with aspartame, which is a known staller!HW 303Aug '04 SW-287 LW-232Restart - Apr 07 - SW 266 CW 225

Re: sugar free jell-o?
That may be Jayseebea, but Dr A said to stay away from Aspartame during the first 14 days, therefore you are not completely following his plan.HW 303Aug '04 SW-287 LW-232Restart - Apr 07 - SW 266 CW 225

Re: sugar free jell-o?
I avoid Aspartame like the plague, and I have no idea if I'm sensitive to it or not.
Are there any jello like desserts that are made with Splenda?Start Date: 1/12/08 - 243.5

Re: sugar free jell-o?
You can just buy sachets of gelatine and make your own jello, flavouring it with sugar free syrup or, later on, berry purees. I no longer make ordinary jello for kids - I use pure fruit purees (usually berries at the moment, the jello being about half water, half fruit) a little splenda and gelatine and they lap it up. Much better for them too.
The difference that my being on Atkins has made to the quality of the diet for everyone else in this house is nothing short of amazing!Kate

Re: sugar free jell-o?
Hi Emma
thanks for responding, there is a big difference between what dr A says in his new diet and cook book and the new diet revolution. In the cook book it says that Aspartame is allowed on induction but in the other book it says no. I am trying to follow the plan but find this quite confusing!!!
10 days and down 11lbs!! Whoopeeeeeeee

Re: sugar free jell-o?
Congrats on your loss so far.
We follow DANDR 2002 edition, to the letter, no bars, shakes or any other sort of frankenfood that was created to make money.
Remember that the cookbook, plus many other books were created by Atkins Nutritionals, the company, not Dr A himself.HW 303Aug '04 SW-287 LW-232Restart - Apr 07 - SW 266 CW 225

Re: sugar free jell-o?
We are allowed to have ASPARTAME but it can stall us. DR. Atkins says if we use those sweetners to be careful of them for this reason. He stated that he prefers splenda as it does not cause that problem which is why everyone says no. Then again it isn't on the acceptable foods list so who knows. When there is conflicting info. I make my own choice.

Re: sugar free jell-o?
And if you look at DANDR, Dr Atkins doesnt suggest anyone eats 'jello' at all but he does suggestas an occasional dessert - not an everyday treat.Gelatin dessert made with sucralose topped with whipped cream
So get hold of unsweetened gelatin (gelatine in UK) and make your own if you can.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
