  • End of Day 14

Well, day 14 is coming to an end and somehow until about 15 minutes ago I didn't realize it was day 14. I was going to wait until tomorrow morning to weigh myself but I just went and snuck a peek. It said I lost 6.5 pounds. I feel a little disappointed after reading so many posts where people have lost up to 15+ pounds during induction, but I guess I'm going to have to accept I've got some metabolic resistance going on. I have done a "clean induction" and not eaten anything not on the Allowable Foods List, have been taking vitamins/suplements, drinking tons of water, using fitday.com and going to the gym 3 times a week for an hour. I did have 3/4 of an Atkins bar today, I had a cup of regular coffee twice and I had 2-3 tablespoons of flaxmeal instead of 1 on two separate occasions. I also ate one extra pack of Splenda yesterday and an extra ounce of cheese a few days ago. I drink cream in my decaf every morning and I'm having trouble not beating myself up for these excesses. Could these things have effected my weight loss?

The strips say I'm still in ketosis. I've never stuck to a diet as well as I have in the last two weeks. So I guess I'm going to have to try and be happy about my 6.5 pounds and stay on induction a little longer. I do feel more energetic and my clothes are starting to be loose (unfortunately I didn't follow the instructions and measure myself). I'm going on vacation in a week and I was hoping to be able to be onto OWL by then but I'll deal. I've worked too hard to give up now! Any advise from people that have experience similar resistance in induction would be appreciated.

Dont be discouraged that people lost 15 and you lost 6.5, they had a lot more weight to lose than you! thats why they lost more, Dr A says we can expect to lose 5-10% of how much we need to lose on induction, you're at about 15%, FANTASTIC! CONGRATS!

The Atkins bar could affect your weightloss, its a staller for 90% of people, try to avoid them this week and you could see a better loss.

You've done extremely well!! Our journeys are all different & you can't let numbers discourage you. It's not to late to take your measurements...so do it today!

Remember what Emma said...Dr A says we can expect to lose 5-10% of how much we need to lose on induction, you're at about 15%, FANTASTIC! CONGRATS!

      Enjoy your vacation.

I agree with Emma and Ozlover - you have done very well to lose 15% of your total hoped for loss in only 14 days

I wouldnt stay on induction much longer as according to the chart in DANDR your metabolic resistance to weightloss is 'average'.

So move on to OWL rung one and start adding 5 net carbs of more induction-legal veggies !
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

          Camille,

I feel like I'm in the same boat. 3 weeks on induction and I gained .6 this week (7.5 lost). I didn't have popcorn at the movie last night (my bf did, the butt) and I'm thinking it wouldn't have mattered if I did. For some reason, it doesn't look like I'm in ketosis, either. (There may be "trace" if I stare real hard.) I'd rather have popcorn kick me out of ketosis than that extra piece of cheese I had. I have to stay with it though. I'm tired of being uncomfortable in my own skin. I'm going to drag myself to the gym if I get all my laundry done.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I need to stop comparing my number's to other peoples. So I'm on to OWL-Rung 1 -whoohoo.

You should be proud of the 6.5, that's over 3 lbs a week, which is a healthy amount IMO. I was surprised to read that the Atkins products aren't good to use, but glad I found that out! Not only do not have THAT much to lose, most of the folks you see losing 15+ in 2 weeks are MEN. They can just think about dieting and lose weight.. the nerve.

Sounds to me like you are doing GREAT!!!!! You have a lot less to lose than some of us so it's only natural its not going to fall off. I think you deserve a HUGE pat on the back for sticking so closely to this WOE and exercise. Keep your chin up and enjoy OWL
