  • Decided atkins is not for me :-)

Hello! I just wanted to say goodbye to all of you wonderful people.

I have decided that Atkins is not something that I would stick too for life and so I have switched to a diet that I can see myself doing this with. I want to be clear so that I don't discourage anyone else.

I was under a few misconceptions when I started the Atkins Diet and it was because of these things that I had made my decisions to go with Atkins versus another diet that I had thought would be more time consuming and that I would lose weight more slowly on (not true).

First conception was that I would lose weight very quickly (I did lose weight and this diet does work but not any quicker than any other good diet that you stick with).

Second conception was that this diet takes very little planning and would be easy. This is also not true! It takes lots of planning, lots of cooking, and lots of education. So this is not a time saving diet!!!!!

I am not going to say which diet I am doing because this wasn't about one diet being better than another!!!! This was simply about what I could stick too and stay on for my entire life and the Atkins was not going to be that for me. However I can see how it would work for other people!!! It all depends on each individual.

I am proud to say that I did succeed on the Atkins diet all of the way up until the day that a smoothly switched over (no cheating at all in my transition) to my new diet. I have not gained any weight back and am still losing weight.

Thank you so much to all of you people who are on this forum. I am definitely going to join the forum for my new diet because I have found such success with my decisions in weight loss through being a part of a forum and always getting such educated answers from all of you smart people Getting support at anytime of day or night is amazing and the best thing that I can imagine for anyone trying to lose weight. I felt week and stong at different times and being able to hop on the computer and get the support I needed 24/7 was priceless and still will be. Thank you soooo much (I am going to miss you!)

Stay Strong and enjoy your new lives!

        Lisa Marie,

We all have to do what works for us. Choose a healthy eating plan that YOU can live with and follow and work, and it will work for you. It's about putting your mind to it, making a commitment and following through. Good luck, and I hope you reach all the goals you set out for yourself.

Re: Decided atkins is not for me

                Thanks!

To answer your question, no I am not on a low carb diet. I was VERY nervous about this at first because I wondered if I would gain weight back just because of the different sciences of the two diets but that did not happen. I was relieved!

I am not losing weight as fast on this diet but I can already tell that I will be able to stick to it and I know that is more imporant. I actually do have to use a lot more willpower than I had to with Atkins because the food is not as filling so there are different struggles. But I am already learning to eat more protien on this diet so that I am not as hungry and can keep myself feeling satisfied I guess protien is important no matter what diet you are on!

thanks for the correction on my spelling. I'm sure everyone knows by now that I am a horrible speller . I wish I could say I'm better at math but I'm bad at that too .

Bye everybody, I'll miss you !
