I can tell you from personal experience that once you fall off and cheat andhave to get ketosis again its a pain. I went through induction flu all over again and had the headaches and such, the hangover icky feeling and its been nearly a week and I am just barely registering in ketosis although I do know that is good either way because it means I am there. Problem is that once you cheat you may kick yourself out of ketosis if you go over 100 net grams of carbs ...... be careful as it takes 2-4 days to register your in ketosis again

Re: Ketosis and just starting? then read....
As someone with a lifelong pattern of "sneaking" food, I fear it's only been recently that I've come to terms with the painful reality:
even if I sneak a bite or two of something I'm supposed to be setting aside for the time being and nobody else sees, I'm not sneaking it past my liver, and I'm sure not sneaking it past my scale! So who am I ultimately hurting...?
Riiiiight.

"Cheating" got put in a whole new light when I realized what it actually means -- I'm cheating myself out of the momentum I need to stay on target with my weight loss goals. What kind of food is worth that?
Way to put things in perspective!

I've always remembered how hard it was and how long it took me to finally find a WOE that worked for me. I only tried dieting about 200 times before I landed here!! Anyway, once I examined when I ate and how I ate and why I ate, I knew even when I started Atkins that I could choose to cheat, but as the prior poster said, who was I cheating. I have a feeling if I don't remind myself often, I have hundreds of cheats left deep inside me, but I may only have one recovery!
When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

I have this strange passive-aggressive way of cheating if you can call it that. I haven't succumbed to bread or anything but I'll be measuring out my salad dressing and I'll put just a slight dab more or just a tiny sprinkle more of shredded cheese. It feels like I'm giving myself a treat but that it could never be enough to register as extra carbs. I have to take a long hard look and start measuring those extras and I'm sure it'll be more than I think. Grrr....Tim

hehe wow and here i thought I was just blowing off steam. its good o know there are others tha feel like this and do small things as well. I made the mistake last weekend of killing i know at least a full bag of hershey kisses in 3 days. Didn't mean to ... it was just supposed to be 1 kiss that turned into 30. Maybe Lays potato chips should sell their motto lol.
