  • Surgery question

I may end up having same day surgery, before the end of the month. I'm looking for "low carb" choices post surgery.

So far I've been able to think of sugar free jello but don't like nutrasweet. Any other ideas?

    Re: Surgery question

can you make some stuff ahead of time? Go to this site and find stuff that you can freeze and heat up. Good luck with your surgery too.

Rochelle is right, planning ahead will help you cope.

Things like soup can be made quickly (and in advance and reheated) for easily absorbed nutrition.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I agree, some type of broth would be good.

First and most importantly good luck with your surgery.. broths, soft eggs of any type are probably going to be good for your stomach. I like cooking all my meals over the weekend so I don't have to worry about what I am going to eat during the week when I have to work full day (9-10 hours a day) then go home to take care of my child, exercise, etc.

Prepare food ahead of time, freeze it, so you can reheat it when you need to!

Soft food ideas: scrambled eggs, broth, homemade jello (linda has a few recipes on her site), mashed fauxtatoes, whipped heavy cream, chicken broth, egg drop soup.

              Re: Surgery question

Thank you for all your help!

Got good news - sort of - for now.

Dealing with some of the emotions the threat of surgery causes - but we're trying a medication route for the next three months and see if I can dodge the bullet. In the mean time - the other scary stuff is biopsies and full cancer screening just to rule out those as causes - it's not likely that it's a problem - but "just to make sure". Hopefully, I can get everything back to good and balanced by sticking to my eating and exercise program.
