  • My First Major Hurdle

Today, we are celebrating my daughter's 6th birthday. So we all know what that means!!! Cake and ice cream!!! So far I have been able to pass up the things that I'm not allowed, like those tasty roasted nuts covered in sugar at the Kiosk in the mall Friday night. I bought some for the kids, and managed to avoid the temptations. It was hard! Hopefully I can pull through this one too. So everyone, wish me luck!!

Congratulations for getting over your hurdle. Keep a visual of yourself at goal and imagine how great you'll look at her 7th birthday party!! It gets easier as you go to avoid the temptations. I make it a point to always involve myself in conversations and a tall glass of water so that I'm so busy visiting and sipping my drink that I don't think about the food. Weigh to go!!

It gets a LOT easier over time. Trust me and that stuff will not taste that good, if you have been eating clean it will actually make you feel ill. I got talked into putting a tiny oyster cracker in my mouth at a party once and I just stood there for a long time quiet until my husband noticed then he just laughed and put his hand under my mouth. I spit the cracker out into his hand and he threw it away. lol...I couldn't swallow it.

Well, since it is my daughter, and I'm a single mom, I can't really go too far from things lol, but I will have other adults in the house, so I will have one of them cut the cake and serve while I take pictures. I think that will help. If I have the knife in my hand, I'm bound to get some on my fingers and wanna lick it off!! I think I'll be just fine though!

I survived! No doritos, ice cream cake, or hamburger buns! I enjoyed a hamburger patty with cheese and mayo on lettuce with tomatoes and onions, and a few pork rinds on the side! Whew, that was one heck of a journey!!!

Great job!!! It's tough I know, but you did it! LOL, just a hint-I buy my kids snacks that I don't like! That way I know I won't be tempted. In order to not deprive them of their favorites or for an occasional treat, I will let them have something really yummy in a single serving size only! That way its still a treat for them and I don't have to worry about being tempted! Its healthier for them too, to consider having sugar-y, carb-y snacks as a treat too instead of available all the time.

                Keep up the good work!
