Ketosis: Trace or Large...What is the goal?

  • Ketosis: Trace or Large...What is the goal?

    I've restarted Atkins and I'm confused about what is considered a "good" Ketosis reading.

    I thought I had to have a "Large" reading to lose weight. However, I read here that many only show "Trace" readings and lose successfully. I also read that not drinking enough water (guilty as charged!) contributes to "Large" results. Ketosis reading have become a near obsession. PLEASE clear this up for me. I've been reading between moderate and Large (40-160), but have only lost 2 lbs in the last week.

    I now realize that Equal sweetner is the likely culprit behind my stall (I put as many a 6 packs in my Venti black coffee), other than that I have actully been very good about keeping my carbs to the 20 grams. I'm switching to Splenda, but would appreciate your input on Ketosis.

    If your sticks are too dark you are dehydrated. And yes you should cut out all the Equal. Remember also that when you use splenda it is limited to three servings (or three packages) a day. And for some people splenda is a staller as well.

      Bottom line though, you're either in ketosis or out. So if you register at all, you're in.

          And some of us never get any colour change on the sticks at all but still lose weight!!

          If you have lost 2 pounds in the first week on induction and have a total of 30 to lose, you have already lost 7.5% - Well done
          It is reckoned that losing between 5% and 10% of your total hopedfor loss in the first 2 weeks of induciotn is normal - so you are well within the range already!

            I wanted to know as well, though I never used the sticks. I am afraid I would obsess.........
