  • Chocolate Craving !

    So I have a huge chocolate craving and refuse eat any Atkins processed foodstuff.

    Any suggestions?

    I was thinking of mixing unsweetened cocoa powder with unsweetened soy milk (4g carbs). But I'm really looking for better ideas.

    Help!

    if you are on induction soy isn't allowed till the legume rung. You might try some cocoa, and splenda whipped with heavy cream though...?

      DONT do what I did

      I went to Walgreens and got "Sugar Free" Mini Reeses Cups and ate the entire bag before I knew it.

      The reason why I wont do it again ?

      It's sweetened with Sugar Alcohol and that acts as a diueretic

      So yeah it did not affect my Ketosis but umm I had to stay near a bathroom for a day

        unsweetened cocoa powder with cream cheese or heavy cream and splenda if you must. It is better to kill the sweet tooth and craving for the chocolate, however. You'll be MUCH better off if you don't give in to the cravings and eat a substitute.

        Think of drug addicts and methadone clinics....Are they really curing their addiction or just substituting it?

            or you can try baking cocoa with splenda in our daily creme allowance watered down with water. makes a great induction friendly cocoa.

            or 1/2-1 whole square of unsweetened baking chocolate 1-2 packets of splenda melt chocolate then add splenda. its a fantastic treat. as with all foods. eat in moderation.

              I made some coconut bark yesterday, which is 4 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil, 1 heaping tablespoon of baking chocolate and 3 drops of splenda. Melted it together and then poured it out on a plate on parchment paper and put in freezer.

              Coconut oil is suppose to be good for you. It is the first time I have tried it. It was good if you break off a little piece at a time and eat it before it turns to a chuck of oil in your mouth.

                  Yes it actually was good, except for the texture. My dd, 13 loved it. I added pecans to mine since I am already up the rungs and can have nuts.

                    Some people say that a chocolate craving is a sign of magnesium deficiency. So be sure you are taking those multivitamins and see if your Atkins menu is high in magnesium.

                      I tried the cocoa, splenda, and heavy cream today, as a Valentine's Day treat for myself for behaving for the first 7 days of my induction, and it was actually pretty tasty. I counted it as 6 carbs, so dinner is going to be light tonight. It's not something I would make a habit of though. Maybe a once a week treat to reward myself for staying on target!

                            Hello there, Happy Valentines!

                            I made this for my 13 yr. old DD today who does this WOE with me. You are allowed this if you're on the Nut rung.

                            3 Minute Chocolate Cake


                            1/4 cup Almond flour
                            1 Tbls. Cocoa
                            1/4 Tsp. baking poweder
                            3 Tbls. plus 1 tsp. granulated splenda
                            2 Tbls. butter
                            1 Tbls. water
                            1 egg

                            In a 2 cup glass measuring cup - melt butter add almond flour, cocoa, splenda, baking powder and mix well
                            Add water and egg, mix well
                            Scrape batter down on sides with spatula.
                            Cover with plastic wrap.
                            Vent by cutting slits in center.
                            Microwave on high for 1 minute & 20 seconds.
                            Turn out on saucer and cool
                            Yields- 2 servings
                            Net Carbs- 4

                            Low Carb Chocolate Frosting
                            3 Tbls. butter softened, not melted
                            5 Tbls. cocoa powder
                            1 cup splenda
                            1/3 cup heavy cream
                            1 Tsp. vanilla
                            few drops water
                            Whisk all ingrediants well. This will make extra frosting so you will have some leftover. Sorry, I don't know the carb count. Plug into fitday to find out.
                            Make sure cake is cooled completely before frosting.
                            I cut the 3 minute cake in half and frost it just like a regular cake. It's so cute when finished, but doesn't last long
