  • warning about some fiber products

just an fyi to everyone. I have been taken a drugstore brand psyllium husk fiber, the kind that you mix in water. Well as I just so happened to be reading the back label I noticed one of the two ingredients was sucrose (table sugar).

please check the ingredients if anyone is taking a fiber supplement to make sure it doesn't have any sugar in it.

I tried to take some psyllium husk and I couldn't get my throat to actually swallow the thick slimy goo. So then I tried to take a bunch of a spoon and just wash it down quickly... BAD mistake. I think I still have fiber between my teeth and spackling the roof of my mouth. How are you getting it down cause I need fiber!

I just throw it down as fast as I can. . .

the longer you take to drink it the thicker it will get. I think they make ones that don't thicken in water....

again, just be sure to read the lable.... any product with an ingredient ending in "ose" is a big no no.

I take the sugar free kind...and I add more water than they say to. I think you have to get use to it though, at first I could barely choke it down...now I take it with my vitamins in the morning, with no problem.

As another form of fiber have you tried Meg's flaxseed crackers? You mix equal amounts of flaxseed and water. 2 Tb. flaxseed to 2 Tb. water or l cup flaxseed to l cup water, mix well then you can either put a garlic, onion seasoning into it for a savory flavor or cinnamon and splenda for a cinnamony flavor. Nuke for a couple of minutes and eat.

I have used flaxseed for cooking in the past but it can't be all fiber... Is it induction friendly? flaxseeds in a salad would work if it is.

I believe it is 1 - 2 tbsp a day that we are allowed of ground flax seed during induction.

I use Psyllium. The brand is Sonne's & I think the product is officially called "Intestinal Cleanser". I take a teaspoon in a jar of water and shake vigorously to mix and chug it down, followed by another glass of water. Sonne's has nothing else added to it. It doesn't taste exactly like a party in my mouth but it's effective and tolerable.

I could never get psyllium in water down without gagging , so used to mix it with my chopped celery and mayo snack.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I either shake the tbs of flaxseed meal over my dinner salad or make a cracker as someone suggested above (hadn't thought of adding seasonings, tho, great idea!) and eat it with a slice of pepperoni or cheese ~ goes down easy!

Yeah, I actually like flax seeds but had no idea they were induction legal. They make great raw food crackers when you add veggies and dry in a dehydrator!!!!
