  • Gave up on day 2...feeling like a looser

I am feeling like a looser writing this......I gave up the diet on day 2.

I felt dizzy and just couldn't go on. I am a vegeterian so for me it was only eggs and vegetables. Day 1 was great but on the second day I just couldn't eat the eggs.

I wonder if there is any one who had a success with this diet with eggs and vegetables alone, if so please let me know.

    It's OK! ((HUGS))

I tried this way of life MANY times before I stuck to it. When you are ready, you are just ready.

I am slowly working my way towards being total Vegetarian (have been for some time). This way of life is based on Vegetables!!!! And you don't have to eat eggs!!! NEVER. I don't like them either.

Try running a Google on "Vegetarian Induction meals on Atkins".......

Re: Gave up on day 2...feeling like a looser

Morning! Don't feel like a loser. I was a vegetarian before this diet and, due to my own personal ethical/moral reasons, plan to go back when I hit my goal weight by swapping out meat items for more vegetarian-friendly items.

If you poke around, I know there are many folks here who have had and continue to have success with this WOE without the meat. Question - do you eat cheese? I noticed you eat eggs so I assume you aren't vegan.. maybe adding cheese can add a bit of spark to your diet.

I would also say try varying your egg dishes.. instead of basic eggs, try crustless quiches. Or check labels. I tried doing a vegetarian version of South Beach once and I found that many vegetarian products, such as Morning Star Ground "Beef" and their fake "bacon" are relatively close or similar carb counts as their animal-based counterparts. The bacon is GREAT and I like it better and its 1 carb a slice like most normal bacon. Their fake ground beef "Grillers" are 2 carbs a serving. It isn't quite perfect but gives a vegetarian a few more options when choosing a lifestyle that is both healthier for them and kinder for animals.

Also remember that, once Induction is over, you're able to add more vegetarian-ok variety in moderation: more veggies, some fruits, nuts, etc as you move along the process.

Or try getting a bit creative with salads.. maybe some romaine lettuce, a diced hardboiled egg, some sprinkled shredded parmasean, bits of cherry tomato and some cucumber with a tasty dressing (I love Girard's Caesar, 2 carbs per serving and soooo creamy). Maybe crumble a "bacon" into it?

Another idea is to stick to lunch or dinner type items for breakfast. A lot of folks here think outside the "egg box" because they can't eat so many eggs - or don't like plain eggs and they utilize a LOT of dishes. One girl I believe eggs cheese and cherry tomatos, another a taco salad, most days for breakfast.

A great Induction-friendly veggie meal I had last night: Spaghetti Squash used to make "noodles" and an Alfredo sauce made with heavy cream, cheese and garlic. =)

You are allowed to eat tofu on induction! It is a "soy cheese" and therefore legal. That's not a panacea, but it will at least broaden your protein choices. Once you get past the 2-week induction period, you can move up the rungs of OWL, adding fresh dairy, nuts, and legumes (for more protein options) at the appropriate times.

Thanks alot for replying. Thought no one will reply to my post.

After reading your replies I went back and thought what went wrong, guess I did not do enough research before starting the diet.

I am back in and that is bcoz you three made me see that I can do it, all I need is litle patience.

Thanks again. Have a nice day ahead.

I commend you for trying this diet while living a vegaterian lifestyle as your choices are much more limited.

one question though? If you're eating eggs why couldn't you eat at the very least chicken and other fowl?

Tried but just couldn't bring myself to eat chicken, meat or fish. I am OK with eggs and cheese though. who knows I might be successful in doing Atkins the vegeterian way
