  • Is Coke Zero/Diet Soda allowed?

I've been feeling extremely thirsty since i started induction. I'm on day three today. I've been thinking about drinking coke zero or diet soda. I guess Zero will be a better choice but I would like to ask for your opinions here.
Apart from water, what else could do you guys usually drink that have more "taste" in it?

Sorry - I just drink water.. but you could squeeze a little lemon in it if you need it. From what I remember Coke Zero and Diet Soda are not allowed during induction as they contain artificial sweetners that are not approved of. Sorry I am not much help - luckily for me I can't stand diet soda's so they weren't an option for me

I drink 90% water, with the occasional Diet Rite Tangerine (it's sweetened with splenda).

I drink water but sometimes add lemon or lime slices to it. You can also add cucumber slices to the water--I've not tried this but others swear by it. I'm not sure which diet sodas are OK or not (sorry I'm not much help--I gave up soda 1.5 years ago and haven't had it since!) so just remember that if you are drinking acceptable beverages other than water, they can't count for your 8-glass-per-day quota.

I drink water 98% of the time. However, sometimes you just gotta spice it up a bit and give your tounge something different, lol. Thats when Ill have a small cup of diet rite. I actually dont even like it a whole lot even though it tastes a lot like real coke which I used to LOVE. I also try not to have this often because sometimes getting that sweet taste triggers cravings for me. I prefer not to tempt the sugar monster.

I also spice it up with decaf coffee once in a while with a touch of davinci's hazelnut sugarfree syrup. My fav thing used to be the coffee coolatas from dunkin donuts.

Its not so much an iced coffee cause its blended like a frozed drink so more like a coffee icee or daquerie.

I think I could probably still make it if I make super strong decaf coffee, put ice in the blender, and what ever flavored syrup (vanilla or hazelnut are best) and mixture of heavy cream and water to make "milk" and blend away.

I also like hot tea at night.

iced tea with a little bit of lemon and liquid splenda....it's yummy and allowed on induction.

lemon juice is limited to 2 or 3 tablespoons per day on induction.....I only use about a teaspoon per glass.

They sell these little green tea flavored mixtures that you mix with bottled waters, alright to me, just be careful of your sweetner intake.

Re: Is Coke Zero/Diet Soda allowed?

Coke zero has aspertame, there is/was also a Diet coke with Splenda, but I'll bet it has caffiene. If you need a diet soda, I'd go with the safer bet on Diet
Rite. Still count the splenda carb tho. White grape is my fav flavor.. (then cherry cola, then tangerine)

Re: Is Coke Zero/Diet Soda allowed?

Diet Rite or Pepsi One are the only common "cokes" that have Splenda and NOT Aspertame. When I have to have something coke like I go for those......however, water is best (but I am sure you have that DRILLED into your head by now).

Re: Is Coke Zero/Diet Soda allowed?

Diet drinks are fine, but we're trying to wean ourselves off of sweet things, so if u drink diet coke, is still like reaching for a coke. We're trying to get that way of life out of our system, so I think a diet drink is ok now and then. Not every day. I'm actually drinking a diet 7up now. I'd rather have water now.

Re: Is Coke Zero/Diet Soda allowed?

Most diet sodas contain ASPARTAME which will stall weight loss. There are very few diet sodas that are TRULY INDUCTION FRIENDLY. One such soda is Diet Rite soda which is made with splenda. Keep in mind even with splenda we are only supposed to have the equivalent of 3 packets a day thus making a 12oz can 1 1/2 packets. serving size is 8oz.

We are allowed ot have diet soda but as previously state we are trying to ween off sweet things. Though this isn't always done.
