  • measuring veggies

I loaned out my dandr copy so I need a bit of help here, I forgot about measuring veggies. Are they always to be measured raw? thats the way I have been doing it.And when it says 1 cup veggies daily does that mean raw as well. Spinach is the one im wondering about, I love it raw but sometimes I like to wilt it a bit with a teaspoon of cream and a little mozzarela (a nice spinach dip or nice to serve as a bed for topped with diced grilled chicken. The spinach when cooked cooks down a LOT. so thats measured raw though right?

DANDR states that all veggies be measured raw. They cook down, especially spinach so measure it out raw and then saute it.

Yep - UrbanShaman is right Funny - I love raw spinach - prefer it over lettuce anyday but can't stand it cooked (I'm a weirdo I know )

I don't like it very much cooked either, FBG. I prefer it raw with some olive oil and vinegar. It's better than something to eat.

            Spreadsheet

I find this really helpful, if you want to weigh your veggies it's more accurate.
I love this spreadsheet, they even color coded the veggies for where they fall on the rung.
            Start Date: 1/12/08 - 243.5
            First weigh in: 1/26/08 - 234.5

              Re: measuring veggies

Looking into getting a food scale, I think that would be the most accurate way to measure. Thanks, I thought it was raw, thats how I have been doing it, just wanted to make sure.

I prefer my spinach raw too and topped with my meat and cheese.
