  • Fed up, I must do this !!!

After much messing about and excuse making I am finally starting induction today.

Me, my husband and little boy went to a large market near us yesterday. They have really cool, funky clothes on there including designer stuff and everything is really cheap but good quality. Anyway my husband needed some new clothes so I helped him pick a load of cool stuff and it was fun, but at the same time I felt fed up because they have georgous clothes for women but not in my size. There was a top I loved and it was only £4.99, I was thinking I could of got a load of georgous clothes too but I'm just too big for them. The only things in my size were old fashioned .

The other day my husband offered to treat me to some clothes but I said no. I dont feel like I deserve to look nice and when ever I find something I like, I look in the mirror and am horrified by what I see. Also I want to get this weight off and I dont want to keep buying clothes in this size.

But you know what, I dont even know what my style is anymore, as its been years since I shopped for fun and not necessity. I used to love shopping and I always looked good but now I hate shopping and only shop when I've worn my clothes out or put on weight and need something bigger .

Sorry I've rambled on but it felt good to get that off my chest.

    Thanks for listening

          Hey,

I understand exactly what you mean - I got so I couldn't shop anywhere nice and it really upset me because I used to LOVE clothes so much.

You could get your husband to say he'll spend a certain amount on clothes for you per lb or stone you lose good motivation.

Best of luck - keep coming here for support and ideas - it makes it so much easier!

Someone else on the board mentioned this - but why is it that when we are heavy we feel we don't deserve to be happy, look nice, etc. Such a shame!! I can understand it if you don't want spend money on "fat" clothes and instead were saving up for newer smaller clothes. I would suggest if you get a chance - go back to that market and get that cute shirt you saw... yes - it will be to small for right now.. but it will be your goal to loose enough weight to wear it. hang it wear you can see it, not in the back of your closet

It sounds like you have a wonderful hubby!

Re: Fed up, I must do this !!!

The shopping spree is definitely something to look forward to as your approach goal. I wasted a lot of money buying new clothes everytime I lost weight and still have nothing that fits, everything became too big. So your better off just waiting until your at one final size. But boy is it fun to buy a size you haven't been able to fit into in years!

I am right there with you...after many excuses and delays, I started induction today. I have so few clothes in my closet that fit now, and I refuse to shop at this size. I have a daughter who will be 3 in April and I have vowed not to run from the camera at her birthday party.

Re: Fed up, I must do this !!!

I know that feeling. I used to be a fashion design student with tons of clothes and a wall of designer clippings built as a collage. Until this week, I hadn't bought any clothes just because... in years. All the jeans I like don't come in my size and the size that does fit never fits right so my arse hangs out when I ride my motorcycle

When I started it was all about getting down to a decent size so I could take a class I want to and get racing leathers that actually fit. Then I was in cosco and I saw some jeans I really liked. They had my size but in designer jeans that size is about 3 sizes too small. I bought them anyway and it felt good so I got a couplemore pairs knowing that in the next couple months I will need them. That's when I knew I was in this for the long hall. It didn't feel like a goal or even hope, it felt very matter a fact, "I can't wear them now but I will need them in the next month or two and the price is really good". I felt committed. I have never felt commited to a diet before but I knew the feeling because it was the same way I felt when I quit smoking this last time and the time a long time ago when I quit for three years. It was the same feeling I felt when I signed up for the motorcycle safety course and the same way I felt walking into college and being 8 years older than everyone else. If you want it you will do it and we will be right here cheering you on.

My daughter gave me these two very cute t-shirts for Christmas. They are currently too small for me to wear. That is gonna be so cool the day that I can wear them. I think having something that is too small for ya can be good motivation. This Christmas I will be sitting under my tree wearing one of those shirts (which will be way baggy by then) and a pair of size 9 501's that fit me 18 years ago. They were my favorite pair of jeans and I always said they would fit me someday again.
I say go get the shirt! It will fit you before you know it.
