  • Done Induction, in ketosis but only lost 3lb...why?

Hi, I've just completed the 2 week induction and I've only lost 3lbs and am fairly disappointed!

I did have a Haribo fizzy cola bottle moment about 10 days ago...I ate whole packet (in about 2 minutes) and felt really woozy. But the next day I was back in ketosis. In fact, I've been in ketosis every day (well I've got to use those strips up some way ).

So I was thinking could it be that as I don't have a lot of weight to lose - only 10lbs - and am not particularly overweight? Before starting Atkin's I would say had a reasonably healthy diet but in the last 6 months I started to have fizzy sweet binges and if there was bread in the house I'd have to eat it all.

So, if my calorie intake wasn't huge in the first place is starting a diet which is fatty is giving me more calories than I need? If I eat smaller portions I get really hungry and that's when the sugar cravings start...

I know this is really garbled but I'm in a hurry but really to ask for guidance.

    Have a great Friday!

If you only have 10 pounds to lose 3 pounds is 30% of your total goal. That's ALOT. You're doing just fine.

You're in ketosis, so your body is using fat like it should -- I doubt you are getting too many calories. But are you tracking them? Do you know about how many calories your body needs? If not, check this out:

    First, find your BMR (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/).
Then adjust it based on your activity level with the Harris Benedict Equation (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-c...edict-equation/).

You don't have to count calories on Atkins, but of course you want to be somewhere in the ballpark for what your body needs...

That said, as I said before, 3 pounds in 2 weeks when you only have 10 to lose is GREAT -- I say keep doing what you're doing.

I just wanted to add to Adena's great post, that the "normal" or predicted weightloss for induction is 5-10% of the weight you need to lose. So, a "normal" person with 10 pounds to lose would have lost only 1/2 or 1 pound. You lost 3!!! That's a HUGE amount!

        Keep up the good work!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Your doing great. And you'll have lost those 10 lbs in no time. I'm curious about your exercise ticker though. are you doing 7 hours of exercise a week?
