    Hi Kim

Well done - 14 pounds in as many days - amazing!

If you are enjoying the food on induction then I would carry on for a while and start on OWL when the food choices feel too restrictive.

Take care and keep up the good work xx

I say if you like induction, stay on it for awhile. I stayed on induction for 6 months or something and loved it.

Don't be scared, you are doing great!! 20 lbs is wonderful and you'll continue to see more.

Dr. Atkins wrote that the people who may benefit from extending their Induction phase beyond 14 days are those people who have a high metabolic resistance to weight loss because extending Induction may correct metabolic imbalances that inhibit weight loss. The rest of us may move onto OWL.

Your 14 pound weight loss (congrats!!!!) tells me that you do not have a high metabolic resistance to weight loss.

If you want to add nuts to your Induction, I can only tell you as an OWL Forum Moderator nuts are the problem food that causes weight loss stalls/slow downs in plenty of people. I say just move onto OWL and enjoy the greater variety of food while losing the weight.

Staying on Induction does not guarantee faster or more consistent weight loss.

I agree with Meg, if you already feel you are missing nuts it would be more sensible to move to OWL where (before too many weeks) adding nuts will be 'legal' for you rather than a 'cheat'.

If you are then happy to stay with being able to eat more veggies, extra dairy and nuts (nut flours are great baking aids towards being able to make Atkins a way of eating rather than a 'diet') you can always stay on that OWL rung for a while till you feel the need to add berries and the other higher rung foods into your way of eating.

              Oh - I nearly forgot
              Congratulations on your loss
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I'm with Megs and Elizellen too. Start moving up the rungs, you'll have more food choices and you'll continue to lose. I'd say with your 14 pound loss you don't suffer from metabolic resistance.

I found that I stalled a bit after 14 days.....when I moved on, the weight loss started coming back. Just a thought.......CONGRATS!

                    Thanks for the replies, all!
JenLynn-I was so depressed this morning after doing great all Induction. I GAINED 1/2 lb.
I was so depressed all day, I almost stopped altogether.
I didn't though, but hardly ate today due to depression. I'm scared to add more vegetables if I'm ALREADY gaining.

Don't panic Kim! Your weight does flucturate from day to day which is why you reallly have to weigh in just once a week.

I weighed myself yesterday and had lost ten pounds and today I had only lost nine but I know there is no way that I could have gained a pound and so this is water weight or whatever.

Don't give up!!! You have done so well. Just weigh in once a week and you will avoid this worries.

                          Kim 1234,

How tall are you ? I have similar stats and goals. Maybe we can be buddies.
I am 5'4 and weigh 274 and I have a goal of 140. I re-started induction today and plan to stay on it for a while.
I have to lose this weight, this time, if only to prove to myself that I can!

I agree with Zarabelle, don't freak out about that half pound! Most of us will experience stalls or pauses along the weight loss journey. Many of us especially noted that pause right after Day 14, I think as a time for our bodies to evaluate this new way of eating and whether we are going to keep it up. This little pause is called Post Induction Stall Syndrome (aptly named PISS).

I know I paused for four weeks with my scale gaining and losing the same two pounds over and over again. I finally broke free and am losing rapidly again. I can't imagine where I'd be if I'd given up during my pause...oh yes, I can imagine, I'd be 21 pounds heavier again and still not losing...so don't despair! And take Megs and Elizellen's advice and move to OWL. While moving to OWL didn't jump start my weight loss, it did give me so many more food choices and I am continuing to lose there.
