Hi Cool Water and welcome in! This is a great WOE (I'm a second time arounder, so I know it works and I also know how easy it is to gain that weight back when I switch to eating all carbs all the time lol) and definately worth following properly. =)

        Re: Starting Right Now!

Hiya and welcome! Good to have you with us. I'm sure it will work for you if you follow the programme as it's meant to be done. It does for the vast majority of people... and when it doesn't there are good reasons, or medical issues (rarely insurmountable).

Just a quick tip... I saw in another thread that you're having diet coke. Be aware that these can cause probs for some people. Also, the sweetner in them should be counted towards the daily sweetner allowance.

Post lots and ask any questions you might have. We're behind you all the way.

Well I screwed up yesterday. Breakfast went fine...Lunch went fine at 1:30pm, but I had a big cookie after that and then we went to eat at Burger King with a #11. I will start again today. I do want to stick with the food at Atkins...

At 8:00 am I cooked some chili. I took out hamburer meat, enought for 3 hamburgers, and broke it up in the skillet. I fried it with (Add to taste) some garlic salt, cumin, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, seasoning salt. I drained the fat off in a colander, and added the meat back to the pan. I then added a can of diced Delmonte tomatoes with 1 and 1/2 cans water. I cut up some onions, zuchinni, broccoli and mushrooms and threw them in. I simmered all of this for 45 minutes. I took out one measuring cup full and it was wonderful. It hit the spot. I'm going to try to have what I like on hand when the "hungries" hit.

One way to fight cravings for something sweet and not induction-legal is to have some high fat snacks available. If that doesnt work, some people find that eating something sour like a dill pickle (check the jar for no sugar added) does the trick for them.

**I'd like to know where I go to record my weight. I barely got the ticker ruler and ticker figured out!

I have stayed on the atkins diet today with two cups of the chili I made and we went to ZEB"S restaurant and I ate a 7 oz top sirloin steak, green beans(I doubled the vegetables), and some onions, tomatoes, cheese, 10 olives, and a little sour cream from the potato bar. I Told them no potato or bread!

                          Re: Starting Right Now!

Today was very tough, but I did it! Geesss! I hope the scale shows something tomorrow. I did notice that for three days now I haven't needed any cough drops...it seems like I've been living on the since Dec. 15th, 2007! Tonight I realized that I wasn't using them. The scale might not show any drop because I lived on sugars and carbs...I'll just have to wait. In the meantime back to some reading of more posts!

Try to wait till you have done 14 days on induction before getting on the scale if you feel that not seeing 'results' before then might cause you to doubt your decision to do Atkins

I can not do this...I need sugar and starch! Where can I get on a site that allows me to post what I eat as long as it's at the right calories??

Can I open a journal here?
