  • Stupid Coffee Story

    This is just stupid... So a lady at my work calls and says shes at starbucks and shes gonna buy everyone coffee... so i said ok .. i'll have a cafe americano with a pump of the sugar free vanilla ( I know i shouldn't be drinking coffee to begine with, but it was only 4 carbs ) So anyway .. she comes back i drink my coffee and an hour later shes comes to me and says .. " I just realized that i got your Americano and you got my Vanilla Latte" CRAP !! so basicly i just drank a 36 carb coffee :-( how stupid ..

    So what should i do ??? Should i kinda fast for the rest of the day and guzzle as much watter as humanly possible .. or should i still eat my left over pot roast for lunch & string cheese snack .. I wonder if i can just flush it all out with watter and eatting really light??

    Any Advise?

    Just carry on. Drink lots of water and don't fret over spilt milk... or rather drunk milk (ha ha)... sorry, couldn't resist.
    You'll be fine... look to the future and make sure you get your coffee yourself next time...your colleague sounds dangerous!

    You can drink decaff btw... though I know that just doesn't hit the spot for some. Just be aware that caffeine can cause probs.

      This is probably too late to matter....but yea, just move on and forget about it. I one time didn't pay attention to the "heavy whipping cream" that my sweetheart so kindly bought at the store and realized when it was nearly gone that I'd been using fat-free half and half with 3 carbs per serving and corn syrup right there on the list of ingredients. How stupid is that? What can I say...I don't see well first thing in the morning. Anyway, in all truthfulness I didn't notice any difference in my weight loss that week and I learned to check very carefully what was brought into the house.

      Regarding coffee in general, I know that some people stall when they drink coffee and I also know that caffeine is not so good for you. All that said, I didn't stop drinking coffee when I started Atkins. I'm a total addict to this day. It's 4:30 pm here right now and I'm still drinking coffee....I don't bounce off walls at all. Anyway, it never caused a problem for me and didn't seem to stall me. I guess I got lucky. Someday, I think I'll quit with the caffeine - may have to be committed to rehab to do it though.

        I actually am not a coffee drinker (my down fall was Mt. Dew). However, when I was at the grocery store the other night I found a Sugar Free French Vanilla Caffeine Free Coffee and then French Vanilla Sugar Free Creamer!!! I put 4 tsp of the coffee and 1 tblsp of the creamer in my cappachino machine! It gives me a feeling of a nice hot cup of cocoa or cappachino but carb friendly!

          Just make sure you check the ingredients of the creamer - as some have stuff that is not 'legal' on Atkins till you reach OWL rung 2 (dairy) even if the carb count is low.

              Things like glucose, lactalose, fructose, high fructose cane sugar and other names for sugar, as well as things not allowed till OWL - milk etc
