  • Freaking Out And Need Perspective

    Hi All!

I am really quite mad at myself. I have been on induction for about nine days. I have lost 8 pounds so far. Tonight I had a girls night out and I was really great in having the salmon out at dinner but I caved and got desserts and quite a few drinks with my girlfriends! How much do you think this will set me back!? Am I going to gain all those eight pounds back after just one night????? I am looking at this as a WOL FOR SURE but I am just worried that I ruined it all in one night!!! How have others found their weight after a night of alcohol???

Anyways, I am still committed to this WOL and I don't want to put myself down too much! I just needed to talk to someone!!!

    Thanks!
    Katie

Re: Freaking Out And Need Perspective

last time around, I drank a few beer (low carb) and a shot one night on extended induction. It didnt make me gain tons of weight but it made me retain a bunch of water weight that came right back off after getting on track. It took 3 days for me to get back into ketosis.

As far as the dessert goes, just get right back on the horse. You may have to get past all the cravings again but you should be back into ketosis in a few days max as long as you just pretend it never happened and stay on track.

Some ppl mess up and then just say oh well im gonna just eat whatever I want for the rest of the week or day then start back on "whatever" date but those ppl usually never start again or gain all their weight back.

Just pretend it never happened and learn from your mistakes. You can do it!!!

It's not the end of the world and you probably won't gain back the 8 lbs. that you lost. Just get back on plan right away...you'll be fine. I had a hard time when I first started this WOL when it came to going out with friends, so much so that I had to stop doing it for quite some time. When I did things with them they would be things that didn't involve food.

Just move forward, figure out what it was that allowed you to go off plan, and then create a plan to avoid it the next time. You're doing great!

Re: Freaking Out And Need Perspective

There is no way of telling how much effect it will have on your weightloss journey but as long as you are now firmly back on plan and as has been suggested, make plans for how you are going to avoid falling into the trap again you will be fine I am sure.

When you check your weightloss on Day 15 it probably wont be as much as it might have been without the desserts and booze, but still make sure you look at the chart in DANDR to see what sort of metabolic resistance to weightloss you have.

BTW if you use ketosticks your readings won't be accurate after alcohol as the acetones produced by processing alcohol will register in the same way as ketones from burning fat will.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          Hi guys!!!

Thanks so much for that!!! I actually had to step on the scale this morning just to see how much I weighed and I am actually down 2 more pounds!!! So I have now lost a total of ten pounds on induction!!! Yipee!!!! This has motivated me to get right back on track!! More than ever!!! Thanks for all of your help!!!!!

I really am going to evaluate today where my willpower went last night as I feel that I would've been just as happy with Perrier!!! I really appreciate all of your advice and how great it is! It is helping me more and more to view this as a WOL. Which is why I am here!

Do you guys know if the pumpkin pie that's been written on here is induction legal.

Re: Freaking Out And Need Perspective

There are several pumpkin recipes around, but to decide if the one you like is 'legal' compare the list of ingredients with the 'allowed list'

If all ingredients are mentioned on the allowed list of induction foods then you are OK!!
