  • My Own Private ****.

So get this. Today after I exercised my husband suggested we go walk around the mall with our two kids. I was game so off we went. I forgot that all through the malls are thinks like Auntie Annies and Cinnabon. It was really hard. Than my husband asked me if I'd like to go to Hometown Buffet so that I would not have to cook tonight. I thought about it and thought it would be okay. They have a great salad bar with lots of low carb choices. Thats the idea right??? WRONG!

They seated us right next to the dessert buffet. And after we ate I had to help my kids build their own hot fudge sundaes. Hubby had cheese cake and hot fudge sundae. I looked everywhere but at their food.

BUT I overcame. I didn't eat any illegal foods. the only think I'm not sure about was this broccoli, bacon, and cheese salad. The visable ingredients are all legal but the dressing tasted kind of sweet. BUT it was sooooo good. I've had it before but when I had it it had raisens in it. This one did not. I have no idea what is in it. But I hope I didn't screw myself.

    What do you all think??

I think you did the best possible thing in the situation. You didn't give in to temptation and you made the wisest choices you could. Just know that those buffet places, even though they do have salads, the make money on that mass produced, highly processed carb stuff. I applaud you for not giving in, the last time I went out to eat, my girlfriend harassed me (and I do mean harassed) into taking a bit of ice cream. At least you didn't just say "What the heck, I will eat me some and start over tomorrow."

      Great job, shari
As porcelain already said, you did the best you could!!

If the dressing you ate with your salad had sugar in it you might find a return of cravings, so make sure you have plenty of 'legal' yummy food around if the munchies strike
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Last time we went to a buffet place I had just been on atkins a month and boy was that dessert buffet tempting but while my kids ate their sundays and my husband his banana pudding (oh how i love that) I went up to the grill and got some spicy sausage and savored every bite. I was worried like you it may have had some sugar but i woke up the next day 2 lbs lighter. Eating out can be a gamble no matter where you go or what you eat but its still far better than going with the choice you KNOW is packed with sugar & carbs.

I wouldn't worry about the salad dressing. Unless it was a diet salad dressing, french, thousand island or some other normally sweet dressing it probably only had trace amounts of sugar in it. Just about every salad dressing does, unless its specialty dressing clearly stating no sugar.

I find the best salad dressings with the least trace amounts of sugars are ceasar and blue cheese dressings.

            congrats on your awesome willpower.

see I'm not sure. My tastes may have changed but it tasted like more sugar than I have eaten in a while. Luckily today is a new day and I' won't have to deal with it again! No craving so far!
