  • Is caffeine really that bad?

I've just finished my induction phase and have sucessfully lost 15lbs (from 168lbs to 152lbs) by strictly following the rules.

However, the one thing I didn't follow was to avoid getting caffeine, mainly because I really need coffee during the day to concentrate. I've been having at least 2 cups of coffee everyday (black no sugar) during the induction, but it didn't seem to affect my weight-loss.

Do you think avoiding caffeine is all that crucial to the diet, or it's just a "recommendation." After all, coffee itself doesn't have any carbs or sugars. There seem a lot of contradicting theories for/against taking caffeine during the diet.

I think it depends on the person. That's about the only break I have received. I have tried as long as 8 weeks with no caffeine and I didn't lose any better, didn't crave less and didn't sleep better. I was more tired and my thinking wasn't as clear. Both times I went off all caffeine, I had a woosh when I added it back in.

I think the people that really benefit by cutting it out are the ones that get a lot of caffeine from not only coffee and tea, but the ones that drink a lot of sodas. I have never drank sodas of any kind, so I just have 2 cups of coffee and a pot of green tea every day. I don't drink my coffee strong and I use 2 tea bags to 32 ounces of water.

15 pounds is awesome for someone that doesn't have that much to lose! Congratulations!

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
