  • Fibre One cereal?

I bought Fibre One Cereal. I don't know if it is a good choice to ever use on Atkins(with out milk)
    What do you think?
I don't want to throw it out. It seems like a waste.
I am in induction so this is probably not a good time. What about later?

Here is the carb Facts for 1/4 cup:

    Total Carbs 12.5 grams
    Dietary Fibre 7 gram
    Soluable Fibre 0.5 gram
    Sugars o gram

So would the net carb count be like 5 gr per 1/4 cup. With 0 grams sugar maybe it's not so bad.

Which stage would you suggest or maybe never??
    Thanks so much.

    Re: Fibre One cereal?

Sungju, I'm fairly certain you can have this when you get to the whole grains rung (which is the last food you add back into your diet), but not before.

Here is the carbohydrate ladder, which specifies when you should be adding certain types of foods back into your diet: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...?t=5516&page=1

Keep in mind, however, that not everyone can tolerate every food. So, it's possible your body may or may not allow you to eat whole grains and still lose. You'll have to take it one step at a time.

    Good luck to you!

Btw, on Atkins, you have to get over that "it seems like a waste" mentality. There will be lots of times you "waste" food on this way of eating... I've ditched countless hamburger and hotdog buns. (I order without when I can, but that's not always possible.) You are worth the "waste." Also, you can always give cereal and other packaged foods to a shelter or soup kitchen.

      To Adena,
Thank you for the ladder. That is very helpful.
      Yeah, I'll get over it!

Grains aren't allowed during Induction phase. So that cereal and others similar to it are totally off limits during your Induction phase---no matter how many carbs it contains.

Atkins is a very specific low carb diet where foods are added in at specific times in specific amounts.

          Your right. Silly me.
          The ladder certainly helped.
I was a little confused because I was reading on the main Atkins site. It had an 2 week suggested induction menu and there was some low carb grains on there. Strange.
But, anyhow I will follow the ladder. I am glad I didn't eat it.

The folks at Atkins.com have changed the Atkins Diet significantly since Dr. Atkin's death in 2003. From the looks of it, they are making it lower fat and higher carb---probably to satisfy the low fat people.

The atkins.com site seems to focus on a balanced diet.
The induction menu at that site certainly looks really appealing to me.

I am going to follow the ladder because that is what everyone at this site is doing and they have had great success.

              Thanks again.
