So I have been eating my salads and veggies, and really have been very good. I have even been losing. I know that we are allowed 20 carbs a day. Well, today as I went to prepare my salad I just happened to look down at my dressing which is fat free dorothy lynch. OMG it says 14 carbs per 2 tablespoons. I could not believe it. Have I been screwing myself? And should I throw this out? The only time I eat carbs is my salad and dressing. What do you think? I feel like I have screwed myself without even knowing. Thanks

Re: What a waste
Agree -- throw it out. Great that you've been losing, but I wouldn't keep using it. On Atkins, we have to be diligent about reading labels and ingredients. Good luck to you!

Re: What a waste
Definitely throw it out... there are too many good options out there to settle for carb filled salad dressing when you don't have to.Taking My life back one day at a time...

Re: What a waste
Such a different mindset but always choose regular high fat, whether it's dressing, mayo, yogurt. If it's low or no fat they always add sugar to make up for removing the fat. And the high fat tastes so much better. My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.

Re: What a waste
Hi Sweetz, YOu got some good advice on the dressing but another part of your post threw up some red flags for me. You said:
First problem I see is that you said salad singular here. To me this means you could be eating all your carbs in one meal. OF courfse you could also be spreading your salad out over several meals but just in case I wanted to mention that since your carb intake is so low it is possible that by eating all your carbs at once you might cause a sugar spike and associated cravings. It's recommended that you split your carbs up throughout the day.Originally posted by sweetz0625The only time I eat carbs is my salad and dressing.
Also, I have to wonder if perhaps there are food items out there that you don't realize have carbs. Most people would find it difficult to ONLY have carbs in their veggies. For examples eggs, cheese, shrimp and scallops all have carbs which a lot of people don't realize at first. I wanted to mention this in case you were missing these types of things from your carb counting.
Good luck and keep up the good work!Grant
