  • Anyone else have a chest rash?

Hi All - I started Atkins in March of 2007 and in June started getting a severely itchy chest rash on my chest and lower breasts. It would come and go throughout the year. (I didn't really do Atkins the right way - I basically stayed in Induction the entire year). I went off Atkins during the winter and gained a lot of the weight back, so two weeks ago I started Induction again and came down with the same exact rash.

Has anyone else had this happen and do you think it's related to Atkins or is it just a byproduct of the detoxifying effects of the diet?

Also, I'm wondering if it's eggs as when I started Atkins I've been having two eggs for breakfast every single morning since March of 2007. I'm going off eggs for a while as I move into OWL (I'm doing it the right way this time, bring on those VEGGIES!!!!) to see if it helps.

Any suggestions for treatment or advice? Thank you so much!

    Jenny

I seriously have never heard of anyone having this problem before. Have you seen a doctor about it? It may be an allergy that you developed in adulthood. I hope it goes away though! Good luck

When you were off Atkin's did you eat eggs? Is there anything that you only eat/drink while on Atkin's and not eat when you are off plan?

Hi - I've really increased my intake of eggs when I started Atkins. So I'm going to try going off eggs for a while and staying on Atkins and seeing how it goes. I'm going onto OWL Rung 1 tomorrow so I'll concentrate on eating a lot of vegetables.

Yes, I've seen two dematologists, an acupuncturist, a regular doctor, and a naturopath and have spent about $1500 on this darn rash. No one ever asked me about my diet though, so I wonder if I've kind of overdosed on eggs??
Not a true allergy but maybe one that got built up?? I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen and if they used any herbs or treatment that worked for them. It itches terribly all the time.

That is horrible. I hate rashes. What kind of creams are they having you put on it?

Re: Anyone else have a chest rash?

I have this right now, and I've had it for the past couple years. Do the spots keep coming back in a particular season?

For me, they are more visible when I'm tan, and they are all over my chest. I went to the Dr last year about it and he said its some type of common skin fungus and gave me an antibiotic. but...for some reason I never got that prescription filled. I need to go back before summer hits and starts browning my skin!

I don't know if its the same thing, but it sounds like it..

Do you use any sweeteners? My sister was having a strange rash; turns out she was allergic to splenda!

I don't use any artificial sweeteners at all - no diet stuff, no "frankenfood". All I eat is meat, vegetables, dairy, eggs, and some bacon and some salami.

I've used tons of different creams including prescription steriod cream and it doesn't seem to help. I'm hopeful about this egg thing though. I'll report back in a few months and let you know if it worked.
