I have a question for you guys. I started off at 225. I got down to about 208 during Induction. I didn't lose much the next 2 weeks and ended up at 205. I ended up going off the diet because at work there were so many events going on where I didn't want to be rude and not eat while everyone else was. So, I was off the diet for about 3 weeks. Amazingly enough, I didn't gain any weight during this time. I recently decided to go back on Induction but I only lost about 10 lbs this time. This is probably from not being a very clean one like I did last time. Anyways, my question is, can't I just go on Induction and lose like 10-15 lbs everytime then take 2 weeks off then go back on it. I would be losing weight a lot faster than just staying in Induction like I did the first time. My ideal weight is 175 and I'm at 195 right now. So, I was thinking of going off the diet for a few days or a week, then going back on Induction to speed up the process of weight loss. I'm sure it's not healthy but I am so close to my weight lost and if I can lose another 10 lb from going back on it that would be great. Oh yea, sorry for the long post!

Re: Going on and off Induction to lose weight faster
I am not an expert but here is my opinion. There are people out there who believe that you can confuse your metabolism by going on and off diets to lose weight at a more rapid rate. My thought is that you are not addressing the main issue of the weight gain in the first place. It takes time for your body to lose weight in a healthy manner. You also need to retrain your mind and change your habits to better ones. Yes, in the short term , you will probably lose weight. I am concerned that in the long term, it will cause more weight gain and may not be the best for your health. Just my 2 cents.sigpic

Re: Going on and off Induction to lose weight faster
Dr Atkins specifically warns against this in the book. It is more likely to make you resistant to weight loss than anything else and is certainly a poor long term plan. Do you want to lose weight quickly or permanently - because it's a choice.Kate

Re: Going on and off Induction to lose weight faster
I agree, you need to learn how to eat right or losing the weight won't really matter because it will not be permanent. More than likely, each time you do induction you will lose less and less. I have done the diet like that before and now that I am doing it right, I am learning why I should have done it right all along. I am losing slowly and I am paying for my past mistakes. My body doesn't trust me any more.
As far as you not wanting to be "rude" and eating, would you rather be polite or healthy? Now that I am doing the diet right, I have found that there are plenty of ways to refuse food and not be rude. I personally used to use that as an excuse to cheat.
