  • I Blew It!!!

    Hello Fellow

Well now that Easter is done and over, I feel like I gained all 7lbs back that I lost!!! I was sooooooo bad, I ate Peanut Butter Eggs and Chocolate Chip cookies, in addition to my low carb meals. The scale says I have not gained but I feel like the biggest LOSER! I am so scared I am not going to make it on this diet plan. I have been convincing myself that I can eat low carb and continue to have that lifestyle, but I am not sure if I can constantly eat these foods, such as meat ALL THE TIME, and high fat foods. I mentioned before that it has been a huge struggle for me in the past, because I am not used to eating much at all, thus my metabolism is pretty much shot and this is why I cannot lose. But I feel so discouraged. It is so hard and I give up on myself so easily even though I KNOW I have to lose the weight. UGGGHHHHHHHH....Sorry to complain so much, I just feel lonely and wish I could stick with a plan!

I was wondering, for those of you who have been successful, how long do you have to stay on the induction plan? Do you only go the 14 days or do you have to stay on it as long as you need to keep losing pounds?

    Thank you for listening!
    Take Care,
    Ali

    Re: I Blew It!!!

Hey, I blew it too. I was into my 3rd week and then I picked my daughter up at the airport and her plane was delayed for 3 hours. All the food places were closed. I was stuck there and starving so those stupid machines were calling my name. I got chocolate, crackers and diet pop! Easter Sunday I ate peanut butter eggs also, more chocolate, nerds etc. I am starting over today. We can do this!

You didn't blow it. You made some mistakes. Pick yourself up, learn from the experience and start over.

I did induction for just 14 days. I think you will find that a lot of people would recommend moving on, unless you are one of the very few people who is truely metabolically resistant, and given the weight you lost, you are not.

One of the major reasons for moving on and gradually climbing up through OWL is the additional foods that are allowed. While induction is easy because you have simple lists of what you can eat, it does get very boring. OWL means you have much more to choose from, including, quite soon, nuts and berries, which can replace the sort of high sugar treats that so tempt you.

However, deciding to pig out on sugary stuff will always be a problem no matter what diet or way of eating you are following. You HAVE to plan in advance to give yourself a decent chance. Have alternatives available always. At times like Easter/Christmas etc, decide in advance what you will eat. Have some legal treats built into that plan, then stick to it like glue.

      ALWAYS BE PREPARED!!!!

If you know you are going to a meeting or conference, accept that there may be no suitable food served, if you are going on a long car trip accept that you may not be able to find low carb food along the way, or that you may break down. If you are going to an airport accept that flights may be delayed. Always think about these things in advance. Have both water and legal food with you every time there is a chance you may be away from home for any length of time. Don't rely on being able to find suitable food.

All your life there will be special occasions and events - Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries, parties etc etc etc. If you cave in at each one there is no way you are going to be long term successful. Plan, plan, plan so that it simply is not an issue.

          Re: I Blew It!!!

Unfortunately I also cheated yesterday. My cheat was I had one cup of mashed potatoes and some gravy. I also ate maybe a 1/2 cup of skittles. I have no idea why on earth I put the food in my mouth. I knew it was wrong, but I did it anyways like I was mindless or something. I haven't stepped on the scale as of yet, and I don't plan on it. What I do plan on doing is starting over with a clean induction, and then for the first time in almost 5 years of attempting Atkins and failing, I'm going to move onto OWL after 14 "clean" days of induction. Something I have never done, so I hope that this will help me stick with this WOE.

It happens and we just have to put it behind us and keep on going. Its our body trying to sabotage us and we just can't let it win

                  Re: I Blew It!!!

ME TOO... I was on spring break last week...found myself not eating hardly anything up UNTIL Thursday...................... Man. what an idiot!

I went to dinner with my dh and they brought the rolls... well I just started eating them like I'd been given a free pass or something....

Next day!.... bread.........at dinner.... again apparently thought I had a free pass again......

Saturday..... sandwich made of peanut butter and bananas.... nope not pregnant just sounded really good and a bunch of other crap that I didn't have a free pass for either...

Sunday was SOME better, but still not great!....
I was back on Induction on Monday as I'd gained 5 lbs and felt like crap all weekend.................. and I had NOT cheated for 3 weeks straight...
I KNOW my problem was BOREDOM... I should have exercised instead of feeding my FACE......

I will say though.............................I"M LOSING LOTS OF INCHES.....
                  Chera

Thank you all for being so honest....I think that if we just pretend that everything is just always so easy that we do an injustice to ourselves. For myself, day 1 was clean, even though I struggled at the end and managed to hang on. However, party at The Yard House tonite...and I'm really worried about it. I love mixed drinks, shots, etc. and I just can't see myself sitting there with a glass of water.

Ditto to what everyone has already said.

I'm sure you will get back on track in no time. I would just start clean again and jump into the Induction and plug away from there.
