  • Day 7 on induction & lost 3 lbs?

I just started and am very excited about losing this weight, but I'm also discourage about the 3lbs. I was hoping for more Im going to keep my head up high and continue on because I know there is more to come! I was on the cabbage soup diet prior and lost 10lbs in a week, so I'm assuming that was my water weight. My diet has been really good, or at least I think so.....

I eat 5 small meals a day, heres an example. If Im not eating enough will it effect my weight loss? or am I eat improper foods?

    Breakfast:
    cheddar Carb .2
    pepperoni Carb 0

    snack:
    salad Carb 3.1
    ranch dressing Carb 2
    hard boil egg Carb .5

    Lunch:
    Pepperoni Carb 0
    cheddar Carb 0

    Snack:
    3 sausages Carb 1
    Celery Carb .6
    Cream cheese Carb 4

    Dinner:
    Chicken Carb 0
    Parmesean cheese Carb 0
    Egg Carb .5
    Ranch Carb 2

    Total Carbs: 14.1
    Water 64 oz.

Any advice I could really use, thanks!

3 pounds in 7 days is great! During the 14 day Induction, we can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight we need to lose. So if you have a 100 lb weight loss goal, you can expect to lose 5-10 pounds. If you have a 10 pound goal, you can expect to lose 1/2 to 1 pound. So you've lost 3 and you're only halfway through the 14 days---that's very good progress!

Your vegetable carbs should comprise more than half of your daily carbs. From the menu you posted you are only getting about 4 veggie carbs daily, which about slightly over 25% of your total.

Here on ADBB, we follow the 2002 ed of Dr. Atkin's book. In it, he said to eat 3 cups of vegetables per day from the Induction Acceptable Foods List. There are 54 vegetables on that list, so you will have plenty to choose from.

Cheese is limited to 3-4 ounces per day. The rule of thumb, according to Dr. Atkins is to count each ounce of cheese as 1 net carb.

The other thing too, is that you are eating quite a bit of pepperoni and sausage. They aren't "bad" foods, but they do contain sodium, which can cause water retention in some people. That retained water can show up on the scale as "pounds".

Also you need to be sure to drink at least 64 ounces of water daily and be sure to take measurements of your body, as the scale might not an accurate indicator of fat loss.
