  • Low/No Carb snacks?

Today is day 1 of induction and I am really hungry in between meals.
I am looking for some idea's of induction friendly no or low carb snacks.

I have read celery and cream cheese but I hate to use cheese towards my snack since I usually like some cheese in my eggs in the am and maybe some at dinner.

Also I am a bit confused about the limit on veggies. I had 2 cups of lettuce with lunch today so I assume that means I have only 1 cup of veg left for dinner?

I am new to this also but, I was craving something sweet today and my desert of choice was sugar free cherry jello 0 carbs. Original or Creamy readiwip is less than 1 carb for 2 tbsp.

Others with more experience would probably be able to let you know if that is okay or not.

For snacks in between meals you could have a boiled egg w/mayo, deviled egg, Maybe some crap dip (2-8 oz cream cheese,2 green onions chopped, 2 tbsp horseradish, 12-14 oz crab meat, mix all together) with cheddar cheese chips, have some olives.....You also might want to check out Linda's web site for meal, snack, salad, dessert ideas. Here is the link http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/recipes.html.

low carb snacks---eat something high fat or a combo of fat and protein. Things like devilled eggs, cheese, meat like chicken wings, cold shrimp, etc.

        RE: Jello

Jello Brand gelatin is sweetened with aspartame. Dr. Atkins didn't like aspartame because it stalls or slows down weight loss in some folks. As for the whipped cream---read the label and make sure it doesn't contain sugar, high fructose corn syrup, etc. It's been a while since I've read a can of the rediwhip, but the serving size is something like 2 tablespoons---two standard cooking tablespoons.

The best bet is to whip your own heavy cream---that way, you won't be broadsided by added sugars.

I checked the rediwhip. It's good. Only one gram of sugar. I haven't checked the jello yet. But, after induction when you can incorporate some berries that would be good with some whip.

lol you'll get used to reading labels, just dont buy anything without checking them and you will pick up a lot of useful tips along the way when you read the forums regulary

As for snacks, I dunno, I don't eat a lot of snacks anymore but on induction I would always have some kohlrabi with me (I love how sweet it tastes these days).
This way I got my veggies and had smthg to snack on.
cheese sticks are good too or hardboiled eggs.
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

                Re: Low/No Carb snacks?

Land-O-Lakes has a whipped cream sweetened with splenda. As for veggies, especially salad veggies, you will do much better to weigh rather than measure them. One cup of lettuce weighs about 2 oz. You might be surprised how much that is. You are right - if you had 2 cups of lettuce for lunch, you have 1 cup of salad or other veggies left for the day.

Did you check the list of ingredients as well as the nutrition part of the label? Remember if it has sugar in the ingredients it isn't strictly 'legal'.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
