  • Too much fat???

Can you eat to much fat? If you do would you gain weight, or just not lose any? I have been re-reading the book but I guess I am having a hard time figureing this out. I can keep my carbs to 20 but When I am hungry I will eat protien and fat.

    Any answers please!!!

    Re: Too much fat???

It would be hard to eat to much fat and no you won't gain weight eating fat as long as you follow the plan. The optimum fat is 60% of your meals, 35 protein and 5 carb, but I have gone up as high as 72% and did just fine. The one thing you cannot do on this plan is try to do a low-fat verision as that would interfere with fat burning and would halt the weight loss.

My fat for the day is 85%. Is that too much? (12% protien and 3% carbs)

Carbs are a bit low. Are you counting net carbs?

Is there a limit to calories then? If most of your calories come from protien and fat can you stop your self from losing weight if your calorie intake is to much?

Not sure if I am making sense so I hope you can understand what I am trying to ask!!

            Re: Too much fat???

Dr Atkins suggests staying between 1000 - 2000 calories per day. When I started I worried about too much fat too. One day I ate almost a pound of bacon (5500 calories) and it would have been silly to expect to have lost a single pound the next day. If you use fitday.com to enter your foods, you will get used to what your ratios will be. You will also know with ketosis- urine smell, metal taste in mouth, etc. Post your menu and get some input from the vets on the board.

Ok, so you can eat around 1000-2000 calories a day and not worry about how much fat is in your servings? Just do not expect to lose weight if you eat over that amount in fat and protein?

ps. sorry if it seems like I am asking the same question in different ways.

Niki - there is no hard and fast rule about how many calories to eat. It is one of those YMMV (your mileage may vary) things.
Concentrate instead on eating as much food as you need to no longer feel hungry and you will be eating the right amount for your body.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
