    Avocado

Its seems very high in fat when using a whole one.

How does everyone use in their recipes?

    Thanks.

    Re: Avocado

I plop some mayo on top of a half avocado and just eat it as it is. Fat is good!! Sometimes I mix a little shrimp and tomato with the mayo, which makes a great lunch with a green salad.

I fill mine with shrimp salad or tuna. I will cut it up in a salad or just eat it plain with a little hot sauce. I love the nuttiness of this beautiful green fruit.

Avocado is really great. I often eat 1/2 for breakfast (or pre-breakfast really) . I like it with a little lime on it.

            Its high in carbs though.

It would be like 14.9 for whole one, so 7.3 for 1/2. I am on the Induction Phase and dont have many carbs to play with only 20g as you all know.

Does it keep you full and should I be including this in Induction. It states in the book you can eat it, but it might stall the weight probalby if used to much.

            Thanks.

              Re: Avocado

It's a special category food, meaning you can eat 1/2 of one per day if you wish, but it might stall you--your mileage may vary. If it stalls your weightloss, remove it from your plan. Make sure to count it in your daily carbs!

I LOVE avocados, and I'll usually eat a whole one (I'm on OWL) because it's so satisfying and has so much fat. I make guacamole with it, and then mix it with fresh salsa that I've made, and put it on taco salads, fajitas, or grilled chicken.

                Re: Avocado

It has fiber though. Half of a haas avocado (which is what I eat) has 6 carbs and 4 fiber - that leaves you with 2 net carbs (well spent in my opinion)

I love to eat my daily half with something warm and a little greasy like a steak. I love a fried steak or hamburger pattie with one sliced on top with a little salt.

Do you know how to tell the difference between net carbs and total carbs?
