I think that depends on the individual. From what I have seen it can be 2 lbs for the 2 week induction period or higher. I'm currently at 17 lbs lost on day 8 but, I'm guessing those results are not typical. I have alot to loose so I am probably going to drop quite a bit during induction versus someone who may only have 10 lbs to loose.
I would say if you are loosing following the induction plan, water intake, and exercise then you are on the right track. Some days might be worse than others and some day's may be better than others.

Ive just lost 8 lbs in a week but thats because its my first week back after straying from the plan for a bit..so im sure its water weight just like the first time I started but after a while my weight loss slowed down to 2 to 4 lbs a week
I started the Atkins diet on March 28. I started at 154.4 and today I'm at 148.6. I have lost everyday except when I stepped on the scale this morning I was at 148.6 the same weight as yesterday. I felt kind of sad ya know...striving to loose and hard to see when the scale doesn't move or do want you want it to do.
I have yet to start exercising and trying to find TIME and getting a plan in place. I am going to workout from home as I don't have the time for the gym with my busy lifestyle.
So I am hoping to have lost by tomorrow again. Should I be taking something out of my diet.
Here are the foods I usually eat daily:
Mozz. cheese 3-4 oz
Eggs 2-4 per day sometimes
1 cup of salad, 1 cup of cucumbers, 1 cup of starchy veggies
Meat - 8 0z
Fish - 9 oz
Grated Parm. cheese 1-2 tblsp.
Butter just started the other day 1 tbsp.
About 2 litres of water per day
So I don't know if I am doing something wrong.
I also understand that the fat intake should be higher than protien intake, so I will be lessening my protien.
Everyone losses at a different pace. I lost a lot at first then slowed way down. I'm in week 4 and only losing about 1 to 2 lbs a week. You shouldn't weigh yourself everyday because it will drive you crazy. I know this because I do it. I lose then I gain a few pounds then it takes all week to lose those. I have no idea why it's doing this but if I could keep myself off the scale I would only be seeing the losses. I'm not losing as much as I thought I would but I take a lot of medication which can mess things up and I know I'm eating a lot more then I ever would be on a regular diet so as long as it's going down that's good.
