man was it hard between lunch and dinnertime. Was craving evrything under the sun,(didnt help I was cooking the whole time lining meals up for the rest of the week). Is it normal to have this uncontrllable hunger?? And is it ok that I ate an extra meal in between and moved back my dinnertime by a bit? I've been scouring the forums in an attempt to find answers, but I could not. Only thing I found in the book was to eat till satisfied, but I feared doing that due to my huge appetite and my times of temptation. Anyhow 1 day down and X to go. I suspect I'll stay on the extended induction phase. Need alot of work after viewing pics I took of meself yesterday. Oh and with all the water drank yesterday, I still woke up this morning with cotton mouth. I drank over a gallon of water no less. Why? Any help and/or advice is greatly appreciated? I pray that Day #2 will be easier. Thanks again for the kind words and support. God Bless, Joe

Re: Made it by Day 1 but...
Absolutely! If you're hungry eat a legal snack or meal. At least for the first week, don't worry about calories or how much you eat. Just make sure you get all your veggies and don't go over 20 carbs per day. When ketosis kicks in, you will be surprised what happens to your appetite.

Re: Made it by Day 1 but...
Welcome Joe
! I'd just like to echo that if you're hungry you should eat. In order to not go over the 20 grams of carbs during induction that may mean that you're eating more 0 carb foods like meat and pork rinds (the plain kind have 0 carbs). The first two days I was on Induction I felt like I was eating all the time!!! Then ketosis kicked in and I was able to make it through the day with 3 square meals and maybe a snack or two. Don't worry about the calories initially just eat when you're hungry so you don't end up breaking down and eating something you shouldn't. As far as water goes I also drink over a gallon per day and sometimes I still feel thirsty throughout the day and wake up with a dry mouth. If I have to get up in the middle of the night I will make sure to drink some water then, too. It helps.
I'm not sure where you're at in your Atkins' journey so I'd like to share that you will benefit greatly if you read DANDR 2002 (Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution), continue to drink lots of water, read and post as much as you can on this site
, count your carbs, take supplements, and exercise.
Best of luck to you!

Re: Made it by Day 1 but...
Ditto to everyone.
I still have hunger pangs and last night was one of them. I ate 1 oz of cheese to satisfy that hunger, but it did not go away. I always watch my calories which is why I am probably running into these hunger pangs. Have to get around that somehow. So I know exactly where you are coming from.
I'm on day 9 and I hope it does get better.
Hang in there and people on this site are great and are very resourceful so you are not alone. Post away.
Good luck!
