  • WHAT'S For DINNER Tonight???

These are nice threads to give folks ideas on menus during Induction.

Here's my menu. Please note I'm on OWL so my veggie amounts are different than Induction levels, but I'll put the Induction acceptable foods in green.

    Tonight

    Roast turkey breast
    Rhubarb sauce
Green bean and asparagus sauteed in olive oil

    Havarti cheese and almond torte

Note about the turkey breast. I roast an entire breast, so I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow and for dinner on Tuesday or for in between meal snacking.

Make sure to measure your rhubarb before you cook it though, and then choose your portion from there. I cooked down two cups, then halved what was left when it was cooked, so I had a general idea of how much I was taking in.
Mind you, it's such a strongly flavoured thing that it doesn't take much. A few TBS with cream...oh my!

Last night we went out to dinner. I had a caesar salad, no croutons, and dry ribs! Mmmmmm!!! I don't have a deep fryer, and I miss deep fried foods, and those ribs (just ribs, deep fried, with salt and pepper, no sauce on the side) absolutely hit the spot!

Tonight we're having chicken marinated in soy sauce, garlic and fresh ginger and asparagus. We had a chef's salad for lunch.
        Geez I love Atkins :yes

Moochie, did you eat at Boston Pizza by chance???

I love their low carb dry ribs, although everything on that menu is EXTREMELY overpriced

I never knew you could deep fry ribs ..... are they better that way than grilled or broiled ?
Have you (or know anyone who has)ever deep fryed them yourself ? does it make the oil boil up alot like it does with chicken wings or not as bad ?

I do them all the itme. I buy the sweet & sour ones, cut them up into individual pieces and deep fry for about 4 minutes. (until crispy)

Salt and pepper and serve with ranch or blue cheese dip. Yummy

They don't boil up any more than wings do.

We went to the Cactus Club actually, but I have had the dry ribs at Boston Pizza and they were fantastic!
This was only the third time this year I've been somewhere that offered dry ribs, and I ate every single one of them...lol

We're having ribs and asparagus. Can't wait.
What kind of spices do you guys put on your ribs?

                      Tonight:

Mixed green salad with the leftover turkey breast, shredded cheddar cheese, 2 poached eggs and a creamy garlic dressing.grapes and strawberries (I'm on OWL)

Vikski: I use a tablespoon each freshly cracked black pepper, paprika, cayenne (I like it spicy), garlic powder, onion powder, thyme and a tiny pinch of cinnamon. Mix it together and use it as a dry rub on my ribs. After the ribs are cooked, I brush them with a mix of water and vinegar, then sprinkle them with more of the spice mixture.

                          Tonight -

Chicken & Ribs with side salad Mmmm

As for the spices I'm going to try what Dieselbud wrote "Salt and pepper and serve with ranch or bluecheese dressing" I'm going to use ranch.

                            I have already eaten:

Steamed asparagus spears with butter and pepper
Small salad with feta cheese, a couple of garlic cloves (watch the carbs, one per clove), Newman's Italian Dressing and some herbs.

I had bacon and eggs this morning and didn't really fancy any meat

We just had chicken thighs with the skin on and sprinkled with spices then put in the rotissorie basket till deliciously fingerlickingly crispy. With broccoli as veggies.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
