  • Not enough carbs okay?

I'm only on day 2 and found Fitday. What a cool site. Anyway, my fat and protein were 64 and 35, pretty good, but carbs were only 1 percent. Do I need to eat more carbs today? Or is too little of carbs okay.

jende, I don't use Fitday and I don't track my percents, but from what I've seen other people post that's about a perfect ratio for induction. Eventually, once you get to OWL, you'll increase your carbs and the carb percent will go up.

      Thank you CLogger.

I just realized the chicken I had was processed so I can add about 4 grams of sugar for the past 2 days. Is that going to throw me right off? I also was eating a salad with olive oil and balsamic and realized there was a sugar content there as well. I probably only had 1/2 gram.

jende, do you have a copy of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (DANDR 2002)? If not, you should pick up a copy - it's INVALUABLE. Check out a copy from your local library or buy a copy online or at a bookstore. Make sure it's the 2002 edition since that is what is referenced on ADBB .

I don't know for sure if the chicken or balsamic will throw you off - I doubt it though. Just make sure to read labels and don't consume anything that's not on the list of acceptable foods for induction. Also, check out the Rules of Induction.

You should aim for 65% fat, 5% carbs, and 30% protein so you are low on carbs. Adding in more veggies will help.

Balsamic vinegar is not allowed. Many balsamics contain added sugar.

I don't know which particular veg you have been choosing from the 50 plus ones allowed, but if you have been eating mainly lettuce you might think of changing at least some of it to some of the other veg with more carbs in them. Remember Dr Atkins said we should be getting 'most' of our carbs from them.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Balsamic vinegar has about 3g of carbs per tbsp.

Oh, I never figured vinegar would have carbs! Thanks for telling me. All these things I never figured.
At least I know I didn't have very much. Maybe 1/4 tablespoon.
