  • oh no...potato starch in great value cheese???

okay, can I find out anything else that I am not doing right. I have been thinking I was doing a clean induction. I have found out a few things that I have made a mistake on....I really didn't know, I still have lost weight, but still...
    • Turkey sausages I had a few days ago, when checked again in the store (got them out of the freezer and the packet had already been thrown away) Has all kinds of fillers in them!!! (no wonder I felt so dizzy when I ate them, I got rid of those things with a quickness!
    • Splenda is not good and I had a 20 oz bottle yesterday of sugar free strawberry water
    • Just happen to take a look on the back of our shredded cheese and it has potato starch!!!! Yikes! I have been eating this stuff
    Man....???

Should I stay on induction another week after I finish. I still have 5 more days to go? I have lost about 5 pounds so far, am on day 9....anyone wanna give me some pointers!!

    Hi LUV4_7TH,

Good job on the 5 pound weightloss so far. It stinks when we find hidden things in the food we are eating . Even though it's time-consuming at first it's best to read the labels in the store before buying something. Even before I was doing Atkins and I'd be shocked when I'd read labels of "healthy" things that had High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) listed as one of the first few ingredients - aargh, that nasty stuff is everywhere!

As far as staying on induction longer it's up to you. You could try it and if you continue to lose then you'll know it was a good choice. For me, my weightloss slowed when I extended the induction phase and didn't pick up until I started OWL. Everyone is different though. It may not hurt to stay on induction longer. At the same time it probably wouldn't hurt you to move onto OWL. Rung 1 is just adding 5g of carbs more by eating more veggies.

Best of luck! Keep up the posts.

      Hey,

Thanks so much for responding to me! I really appreciate it, see we usually buy things and freeze them so the cheese and sausage are things we've had in the house for awhile, so that is why I didn't realize it, I just thought about it today and decided to read the ingredients and I felt so terrible about it...I guess I will wait and see what to do.

The first time I did Atkins, back when I hadn't read the book well enough..I stayed on Induction for 3 months!!! I lost about 30 pounds, but of course I wouldn't do that now since I know more about Atkins this time around.

Again, thanks for responding, you guys are so cool around here!!!

        Hi

Yep, I was a victim of the Great Value cheese, too.

I wouldn't worry about extending my Induction if I were you... for the amount of weight that you want to lose, your rate of loss so far has been excellent. Just concentrate on finishing up your 2 weeks cleanly, and move on to Rung 1 (more veggies) when you are finished with Induction.

Great job on reading those labels! Keep up the good work.

I wanted to add that splenda isn't necessarily evil. I try to limit my use to once every few days and it has not affected my losses. You just have to test how it affects you.

Thanks mitzi and blue, this induction is a process that I am learning more and more about as days go by! I think I will finish out my induction, today is day 10 and then go to OWL!

And believe me, I am still learning things, too. This is an on-going process, for sure.
