Hi all..I'm new, but not, if you know what I mean

How do you get through the 14 day induction??...I've gotten as far as the 7th day & even that was a struggle for me...Is it b/c I'm not in the right ''mind set?''
I'm also a little lazy when it come's to preparing for 'myself '..and yet I can prepare a meal for my hubbie..Someone please help me..I just have to get through the induction..Once I'm through the 2 week's, then I'll have given myself enough of a jump-start to carry on pauleen

    Re: Please help me

You have to want to do this. You have to want to make the change. What works for me is a no excuses approach. Since there aren't any excuses there isn't much room for error. It's not an option for me. Staying at this weight is not an option for me. It's not fair to me or to my entire family. Not only do I want to run with my children, I want to be able to keep up with them. I want to live an active life instead of watching life pass me by. You either want this for yourself or you don't. Not one bag of potato chips, soda, or junk food in the world is not more important than my health.

It boils down to this...failure is NOT an option this time. No way.

Yes I agree try to focus on the positive you want to accomplish. Is it new clothes, better health, looking good in shorts, playing with the kids with more energy - Keep those goals in focus.
Start doing some exercise - keep your mind away from food and helps you stay motivated.

Yeah! Glad to hear it The first time I was a failure because I wanted a quick fix. I only did induction to lose all of the weight I needed to lose. I didn't go through any of the other phases and went back to my old eating habits. Big mistake. I won't go there again. I just have to remember that this is for life, not just until I lose 60+ pounds. If I didn't remind myself of that I'd be right back to where I was before. You can do this...I know you can.

            Hi,

I noticed that you referred to your eggs as the same ol same ol, could it be that in the past, you may have gotten into a rut with the foods that you were eating? If so, jazz it up! Make an omelet, make a casserole, grill fish for breakfast, make a stirfry with meat and veggies, these are just some ideas. I can't eat eggs, I am very allergic..so I had to get creative and some days I throw salmon on the grill and eat veggies.

Keep posting on these threads to keep yourself accountable and I agree with everyone's advice, you have to have it made up in your mind that THIS is what YOU really want to do for YOU and no one else!

              Re: Please help me

              The mindset is all important.

I have been talking and thinking about losing weight for about 10 years and so happy that there is a plan that will work and I am actually doing it! I see you've been thinking for a while too. Now is the time to make it happen.

My daughter works at the mall and came home with a free box of cinnabons from an employee there and brought them home. I kept my resistance! I had cheesecake pancakes instead! It wasn't that hard! yehaw. Without the right mindset, I would have given in for sure. She was apologizing when she was handing them out to the kids. I told her I'd have to get used to tempting situations like this. I told her to freeze one and I'd have a cheat in one month. (I just started too) I don't think she did. lol I was at a friends after breakfast and there were danishes and croissants on the table for the kids. I had NO desire for them. They simply were not worth it. And, he was making food that I liked and COULD eat.

I saw a good quote on another ladies signature here. I'll try to find it for you.

This plan is EASY to follow. Keep saying that to yourself. lol. That's what I'm doing.

I went shopping yesterday. I didn't buy anything - just looked at clothes in the size I want to be in. I may as well have purchased them. I'm THAT confident it will happen.

In fact, anytime I'm in a store, I take a look at clothes that are the size I want to be in.

Look at a catalogue and pick out some new clothes that you want to buy when you reach your goal!

I keep thinking about who I'll give my clothes away too once they're too big for me.

Pay attention to your thoughts. I am a Christian and keep thinking about a verse that says "Take captive any negative thought". I am trying to do that.

I guess i have the mindset that THIS time it will happen and I'm taking captive any thoughts that will deter me.

If you get discouraged, come here.

Or better yet, to STAY encouraged, come here often.
Also, for inspiration take a look at the before and afters or watch The Biggest Loser.

I agree. It's only 2 weeks of induction and you couldn't use up all of the menu choices in that time. I am looking forward to when i can eat more, but in the meantime, there's sooo much to choose from.

It's the mindset! Think positive. No negatives.

                  Re: Please help me

Besides the ADBB and the support here, I found that reading and re-reading the DANDR (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002) and writing down positive quotes helped me tremendously. Whenever temptation struck, I took out the 3x5 cards that had the quotes written on and read them over and over. I even posted some on my kitchen cupboards and in my glovebox of my car. After a few weeks, I didn't need the cards, the thoughts came in my mind every time I was around the trigger foods that always tempted me.

Another thing that helped me was keeping a journal of my feelings and thoughts, my goals and my measurements. I also have a food journal that I post all the foods I eat each day. My two journals have kept me accountable.

You can do this. Instead of feeling deprived, think about the great healthy foods you are eating and how they are making you look better and feel better. Do this for you. Its a matter of attitude and committment. You are worth it. You deserve to look and feel your best. Make it happen.

All your suggestion's I've read over a couple time's now, and I will continue to read them over each day now, and to journal, journal, journal!...I'm going to put my before pic up now, as another reminder to myself to ''SEE WHY'' I'm doing this!..

To keep myself motivated I keep a picture of myself where I was when I didn't have this weight on my fridge, plus one at my heaviest. It sounds stupid, but lots of times when I want to cheat, that will actually stop me from doing it and motivate me to make a better choice of food! Good luck!

As well as what the others have said, my tip would be to plan your food in advance. One of our members used to have in her signature this quote
Failing to plan is planning to fail
which I have taken as very good advice. So prepare and have available an abundance of 'legal' foods and snacks so that any time you feel a craving for something not on plan you can eat something that IS on plan!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

For me it is mainly a mind game. I finally am in the right mindset. What's been really helping me and keeping me in the game are a couple of things: first, it's this wonderful website that is full of recipes (some induction friendly) and it's the variety of foods that are keeping me interested http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/; second, I taped a whole bunch of pictures of bathings suits I would like to look good in eventually and taped them all over the house (I have 4 on the fridge, haha). Plus, I've just been feeling so much better physically and mentally that I don't want to stop!

                          Good luck and stay strong!

Haha, I guess it does sound kinda funny. It works though and that's what counts right? haha. My second day I had MAJOR sugar cravings and so I made the mock danish and it took care of it in an instant and I havn't had sugar cravings or sweetner cravings since! I have a family vacation at the beach coming up this summer so that motivation because I'll be the biggest one there if I don't take control, so I figured it I tried to find a few bathings suits I liked that would help me stay motivated.
