Unfortunately, fruits are not allowed during induction. Once you move to OWL, Berries are being introduced on Rung 4 and other fruits on Rung 7.

If you look for a sweet substitute you can have tomatoes or peppers, but of course within the net carbs range.

Also to make your menus more interesting and satisfying you should check out this great source of low carb recipes. The ones with a * star are induction friendly:

    Good luck

      Hello, eatsalot

Doing Atkins correctly is a specific process. That is why it is VERY important to read the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR for short), and the stickies at the top of each forum.

Fruit is not allowed until Rung 4. On that rung, you are allowed berries and mellon. Fruits other than berries or mellon are aren't allowed until Rung 7.

Here is the link to some stickies at the top of the OWL forum. Reading these should give you a good foundation until you can get the book.

This is one of the stickies from that forum - read all of them, though, to help you understand better. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=5516

That's NOT a problem! The first rung is more veggies, and you should stay on each rung for at least a week. You just need to add 5 net carbs worth of veggies from either the Salad Veggie list or the Other Veggie list. Easy!

            Re: What Fruit?

As the others have said, the foods we usually think of as 'fruits' are not allowed till a little later on Atkins but there are a couple of allowed 'veg' which to me seem to be fruits which you could eat right now.
Pumpkin and Rhubarb are nice, eaten maybe with some cream, and as Swiss Miss pointed out some of the other vegetables are sweet too - cherry tomatoes, sweet red/yellow peppers and celrey are ones that I find sweet!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
