  • Planning ahead

I haven't started yet. I want to make sure I'm ready and prepared.

So far some problems I'm having is planning out meals for my first 2 weeks.

    My two main problems are:

    1) I leave for work early in the morning, so it's nearly impossible to cook in the morning.

    2) I don't eat sea food, and from my limited knowledge of the plan is a staple.

    Any suggestions?

Also, I'm wondering what kind of vitamins or minerals I should be taking.

I'm sure this info is in the book, but I'm still waiting for it to show up ay my house.

    Thanks guys.

I didn't know seafood was a staple. Is it? I don't eat it either (except shrimp but I can't afford it).

You could try and make something over a weekend for breakfast and freeze it and heat it up pretty quick. Quiche is a really good thing to make and it freezes well.

      Re: Planning ahead

      Hello!

I also have busy mornings so I often make my lunch the night before. Or on Sundays I reserve time to cook for the week! It can really help me from getting stuck and going to the cafeteria at work. I'll often just cook an extra hamburger patty at night and take it into work with me the next day. Just make extra dinner and take it in! A salad's easy to whip up for lunch.

You may have to wake up a tad earlier for breakfast. It's quick to prepare a couple of eggs and you'll want to boost your metabolism as quickly as you can. Eating breakfast has a major difference in my weight loss.

Seafood is great but certainly NOT a staple! You can have red meat, poultry, etc. If you like tuna you can have that...unless that's as gross as other seafood for you! I often make ribs or torilla-less tacos.

My favourite is a cesar salad. Easy to take with me to work and delish! Make sure you check the carbs in the dressing tho!

As for a vitamin...I take One a Day Weight Control. It has a teensy bit of green tea extract which is more psychosamatic, I think, because there isn't a ton in there to do much. I also take CLA.

No worries...when your book gets there read it but we're here to help until it arrive and after of course!

      Hope that helps!
      Katie

        Thanks.

I'm still new at this. I guess i just notice the sea food listed in places more because I know I don't like it, heh.

We almost always have a turkey in the freezer in this house. For most of the year they are cheaper than at the holidays, and quite frequently they go on sale ridiculously cheaply. We make wonderful soup stock from the bones (an excellent source of calcium by the way).

Anyway, you could roast a turkey, cut it up & make a bunch of baggies with serving-size portions to freeze. Turkey salad (mayo & some crisp cubed veggies) is a great lunch. If you can heat stuff at work a turkey stir-fry is also great.

          cheers,
          Sue

Turkey is the easiest thing in the world. Get a meat thermometer. Stick it in the oven (look up the right time), check it with the thermometer, take it out when it's done. Nothing simpler.

Well, while I do enjoy some turkey, it is coming to be summer here in Phoenix, and nobody likes to have the oven on for hours when it's 110 outside.

I'm considering a contact grill (like a foreman grill). With that I think I can cook chicken breasts, burgers, and even steaks.

Up at the lodge where I cook, on hot days I do roasts, turkeys, etc., on the bbq. I just put them in a roaster, add an inch of water, and cook it that way. It doesn't take like bbq. You have to keep an eye on the water - very important! If it burns off you'll get a scorched roast in no time.

The more I think about this, the more excited I am getting.

Usually my diner is deliverd by pizza hut. I'm looking forward to enjoying a steak I cooked myself.

Just give your self an extra 10 minutes in the morning and fry up 2 eggs with a slice of cheese. I can actually make it and eat it in 5 minutes!! I also rush around in the morning. It's hard to juggle kids, work and a diet. Eating something "legal" helps keep me from cheating later in the morning. If your really pressed just pop 2 hard boiled eggs in a baggie and eat them when you can. It's not a best case scenario but it's better than nothing!

I pre-prepare food for breakfast as I am not a morning person

Usually I make a crustless quiche at the weekend so it gives me 6 slices for 6 "grab'n'go" breakfasts.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
