  • Can I Have??

I am just about to finish my first day on induction!
Can anyone tell me if i can have De caffienated Coffee with splash double cream and sprinkle Splenda???
I found it so difficult to drink water before i started this diet,i drank my 2 litres today and actually still felt thirsty, wanted more....weird.

Is it better to buy higher fat food items with lower carbs or Lower fat and more carbs....silly question i know but its a little confusing.

Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Danielle

    Re: Can I Have??

Coffee is HIGHLY discouraged (decaf or not) during induction. Not only does coffee have carbs (which many people forget to count), it causes cravings and stalls in many people, either because of the coffee itself, or because of the stuff you put in it, like cream and sweetener. Decaffienated does not mean caffiene-free; it simply means that the majority of the caffiene has been removed, but small amounts of caffiene still remain. Give it up for induction. You may carefully add it back in later.

Good for you on drinking so much water! There's no limit to drinking water; if you still felt thirsty and wanted more after 2 litres, drink more! 64 oz. (or 2 litres) is simply the MINIMUM amount of water required--lots of people drink up to or more than 1 gallon (4 litres) per day.

I assume you're talking about dairy products with the highfat/lowcarb vs. lowfat/highcarb question? (Specifically "special category foods" as there is nothing else allowed on induction that would cause this debate.) Always buy the FULL-FAT versions! Full-fat versions are usually created without fillers or thickeners, whereas low-fat versions usually have to add more carbs for stability or flavor. Even as you climb OWL, I suggest sticking with the high-fat products rather than low-fat. Remember, it's not only carbs that count, but INGREDIENTS!

Read the label of full-fat sour cream. Now read the label of low-fat sour cream.

YIKES! That's why ingredients are so important, always read nutrition labels before putting ANYTHING into your body!

Hi Julirmama,Thank you for that reply, this has really helped me because i like to drink tea and coffee-switched to de caff though, but now you have said it is best to avoid, i am going to quit.
Will be difficult, used to dinking 12 Cups Tea a day,but i will drink more water instead.
Do you know what the 4oz of cheese per day would look like? Don't really have time weigh things!!
      Thanks again

WOW, 12 cups a day!? But then again, I was an 8-cans-of-soda per day girl before Atkins, and I gave that stuff up completely. You CAN do it!

Hrmm, what does 4 oz. look like? I guess it depends on the "form" of the cheese. If it's shredded, 1 oz.=1/4 cup. Many times sliced cheese comes in pre-portioned in 1 oz. per slice. If you have cheesesticks (those prepackaged sticks of cheese) they are generally in 1 oz. portions--a real lifesaver on induction! If you have a food scale, you can weigh your cheese. 1 oz.=28 grams.

Coffee and sodas can also be dehydrating ... another good reason to stick with the water. Congratulations on your life changes!
