  • 4th day on Induction, need advice(Not well)

    Hi there everyone.
It is fourth day on Induction. First and Second was brilliant, but now i am i Ketosis for sure....my breath is not nice, pee not nice lol.

Day 3 , felt sick, did'n't want to eat, shaky, also had diharrea.
Day four today, still feel shaky but not so bad, still feeling a bit sick.
Can someone tell me if they had this but made it through, because if i feel like this long term i don't think i can carry on!!!
I am down 3lbs in 3 days, this weight was impossible to shift on Low Fat diet.

Any help on how i can get through this will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all so much
    Danielle

It's kinda of the same thing (although less drastic obviously) as a person withdrawing from heroin or some other hard drug...you are breaking the addiction you had with carbs/sweets...etc...It will pass eventually if you just stick with it...it did for me...but it can take a while for some people.

Another thing you might want to consider since you just starting...is to stop drinking (if you do) diet sodas...with things like Aspartame in them...as well as caffeine...these can really affect your blood sugar/insulin levels and make things harder for you...if you have to have something a little sweeter try some flavored water with sucralose (Splenda) in them...you still have to count any net carbs and you should limit them but I think they are much better and better for you than diet sodas...REMEMBER to drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated...a multivitamin and possibly some potassium supplements (if you get leg cramps) are good ideas as well. Diarrhea can be handled with some Psyllium husks.

Hope this helps a little...HANG IN THERE...it does get easier...

      Hi Danielle:

What you are experiencing now, shaky and diharrea, I had in day one, two and part of day three. I am feeling better and able to workout now. I guess we all adjust differently. I know that I have lost weight but I wont weigh until a week. Hope you feel better soon.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water ....... it's easy to get dehydrated and those shaky sick feelings can sometimes go away with a tall glass of water ...... stick with it you are doing great!

                Hi Danielle:

Beleive me that I know how you are feeling, even though I on day 4, I get a headache at times. I now carry my extra strength excedrins in my purse....I took 2 maybe an hour ago, and the headache is gone. Im up sometimes and not so good other times. One thing that i think I'm not doing right, is not eating enough. For ex. yesterday, I had a Atkins chocolate drink, 5 crbs, and 160 calories, late lunch of 1/2 avocado with tuna salad with water. I felt sooo good afterwards, so much energy! I exercised vigourously and was full until 9pm. Got a little hungry and ate very lite, a dill pickle, two slices of ham and 1 oz of cheese. It wasn't enough and this morning I paid dearly. I should of had dinner . I know that my carb intake was probably around 9.

Overall I can tell that I have loss weight, but I know it is important to follow the rules of induction. Wait a couple of days and follow the plan to a tee and see how you feel.

                Best wishes,
                Rose

Hi Rosetoes, It's good to know someone knows how i feel.

I think that is my problem to, i can't really eat very much at all, my carb level probably sitting same as your's, not been counting but i better start.
I need to sit down, work out some nice recipies and try them, a proper menu plan of 3 meals per day..maybe snack in between.

One thing i tried tonight and not allowed;but it did settle my stomach was a cup de caff tea, splash cream, and 1/2 teaspoon splenda....i will linit this to 2 per day.#Once again.

                  Thanks for that reply.
                  Keep up the good work!!

Post your menu in the Review My Menu forum. Sometimes, newbies make the mistake of thinking that Atkins is a no carb diet, so they neglect to eat their carb foods like the 3 cups of veggies we are supposed to have daily.

                      Danielle;

Hope you are feeling better today. I woke this morning feeling lighter and while I swore to wait until my 7th day to learn of my weight loss, I couldn't resist. I have loss 4 pounds in 5 days! I am on cloud nine now....and feel great!

Scales have always been my enemy and I knew if I'd only loss 1 lb or maybe nothing, I'd be terribly upset. I am on the treadmill now in the evenings too.

You know what helped me, is in the morning, I will have an Atkins chocolate shake...160 calories and 5 grams of carbs. It have alot of protein and that gives me a pretty big lift. you have to mix it up some, or else you can become nausea (at least I did).

Try mixing things up some and hang in there...this diet works! Oh, by the way, I buy extra creamy whip cream...no carbs and only 15 calories....so when i'm craving sweets, some sugar free jello and plenty of whip cream.

Let me know how you are doing.

Danielle, I see you often refering to Atkins as "the diet." Please, please, ...you gotta understand that this is not a DIET. This is a Way of Eating, a Way of Life. A diet is something you do for a few days. Atkins is something you have to be determined to do for the long haul. Yes, the first part of it (induction) definetly feels like a diet. I'm with you on that one. I just rererestarted induction last Monday. I'm on day 11 today. I feel your pain girl, but you have to know that this is just temporary. You gotta eat your veggies, that's not negotiable. Either you are on Atkins or you're not.

Hope you're feeling better soon dear. Keep drinking that H2O. That'll help with the headaches and yucky feeling.

Rose I just wanted to point out to you that the Atkins Shakes are not something you should be drinking on induction ....... and really from what everyone here will caution you too they really shouldn't be used on a regular basis at all. A lot of the Atkins products were produced and made popular after Dr. Atkins death by the corporation in order to boost business profit not really keeping Dr. Atkins guidelines in mind ....... I know they are making you feel good in the mornings but try 2 eggs and a few slices of bacon or a peice of bacon egg and cheese quiche and see if you can get that same feeling from whole natural foods.

                              Congrats on your weight loss!
