  • Day 5 And 9 Lbs. Down - Yay! It Hasn't Been Easy.

Today is a new day and I'm feeling good right now. I am worried because I have temptations to face today as I'm going grocery shopping with the family. There are certain things I used to buy before almost religiously on these days as treats. I am worried. Not so much that I will actually give-in to temptation, but of the struggle to come because of it. I really hate the days when I struggle. Two of my weaknesses are donuts, especially filled with either jelly or creme and Pop Tarts. I feel like I'm getting ready to fight a little war. I guess I'm in need of encouragement.
All of you and the are definitely amazing and what I need right now. Thanks in advance!

I like this quote and I'm going to keep using it.

"Nothing tastes as good as thin feels".

I also find it helpful to do as the Bible says "take every negative thought captive", so every time you think of anything like a donut, dismiss it and start thinking positively. Think about those 9 pounds you've lost and the next 9 that will be melted off of your body. I think controlling your thoughts is paramount. If you continue to dwell on the donut, you will eat it, so pay attention to what you are thinking about.

don't even walk down that aisle!!!!!! stick to the outside of the store. and keep that vision of the new, thinner, healthier you right in the forefront of your brain!!!! plan, take your list, get in and out as fast as you can.

i promise it will get easier!

The good thing about Atkins is that there is no need to go to any of the aisles in the store! When shopping you only need to shop on the outside of the aisles (veggies, meat, cheese). Don't go into any aisles that might tempt you! You can do this! Imagine if you gain back that weight you've already lost? It's not worth it! Stay strong!!!

I did it!!! I just got back. I had to come on here and update. I was soooooooooo tempted. The had these sampling tables with all kinds of goodies. I kept it together and walked away. It was hard. But I did it. I'm proud of myself. Yay! I actually kept muttering to myself "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." I didn't care if I looked like a nut. Now I'm in the comforts of my home, here in the forums and away from all that horrible temptation. Whew!

Just a thought that might help for next time, I remember years ago when I was on one of the many unsuccessful diets I tried reading the advice 'never go shopping hungry'. It is easier to resist temptation if you have just eaten a tasty 'legal' snack

                              FoodAddict:

What a wonderful encouraging loss! Im so happy for you.

I know what you mean about shopping and the temptations with the foods we use to eat and can't eat now. I have three kids and I can't expect for them to scarifice what they like because I can't eat the same things anymore.

I was at the store yesterday, buying foods mostly for my diet, but I did get a few choc. long johns for my son...who can eat anything and never put of weight....ahh to be young with a high metabolism. Anyway, my daughter that is a litte underweight ask for me to get her some chocolate brownie Ben and Jerry ice cream, and my baby daughter...pop tarts, etc. I did buy some treats for them, but not once did it distract me or get me tempted. Sams club especially has many booths set up where you can sample different foods and I just whisk past them, no smoothies (which I love), it's okay though.

It is all those foods over a peiord of time that got me into this situation and I can say no thanks now.

Best Wishes and remain strong and determined!
