  • mood swings???

    Hi everyone,
I'm on day 14 of Induction, and am pretty proud of myself for doing a clean induction. I've lost 9 lbs, 8 lbs of which came off in the first few days.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had problems with mood swings while doing induction. For the last few days I've been teary all the time, headachey, and losing my temper quickly. I'm two weeks away from TOM, there's nothing in my life that I can identify as a major stressor, so I don't know what it could be other than Atkins. I'm literally crying at touching TV commercials! No TV commercial is really THAT touching! And this wasn't happening during the first week of induction, when I could attribute it to withdrawl from certain foods or alcohol.

Any ideas or other people who have experienced this?

    Thanks,
    Michelle

    Re: mood swings???

First, congrats on 9 pounds gone forever. What you describe sounds pretty normal. When you are detoxing, you get lots of symptoms like headache, flu-like symptoms and your hormones go a little whacko until everything settles down. Insulin is a horomone, and you have changed the fuel it is used to reacting to for the better--but--it takes time. A lot of hormones are stored in fat, and when you start burning fat, they get unbalanced. Your TOM may come sooner or later, be longer or shorter until your body settles down to the new way of living. It takes a while to get your body shifted over from burning glucose burning to fat burning for energy, but you should be over the worst of it soon.

Another thing--it could be your body throwing a temper fit so you will give it some carbs! Just Say No!

    Sunny!

      Hi Michelle,
congratulations! I just finished my 2 week induction this is my second time around. It was the same way with me both times. Once your body gets use to this new way of eating you will feel so much better.Just hang in there it just takes time for your body to adjust.
