  • question about sugars on labels

    Hi,
    I apologize if this question has been asked before and I tried to find it before I posted this but I just need to have something cleared up for me before I start induction because I really want to do it clean. I realize that we are allowed 20 grams of carbs a day but should everything we eat say 0g sugars on the label or is it ok if it has a few grams of sugars as long as its not added sugar? Also if we are only supposed to eat things that say 0g sugars, is this the case only during induction or forever?

    Hi Vanessa

    You are right - the sugar we are trying to avoid is the sugar/high fructose corn syrup/dextrose etc listed in the ingredients list rather than the sugar listed in the nutrition label which may be natural sugars and are what makes the carbs in veggies etc and are the net carbs we count as part of our up to 20 in induction.

    As far as we can we are supposed to avoid foods with added sugars throughout our Atkins journey.
    Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
