I hate to admit it but in all of my hesitations I have become the perfect lurker rather than the success story I could have been nearly two years ago. Never had the motivation, not me. I had decided that I didnt like what I saw in the mirror and I needed a solution. Atkins was the only WOL out there and really - OUT THERE! I loved it but never found enough self-esteem to do it. This past week my dad died at the very young age of 58. Nothing "weight" related...just weight related as he was bi-polar. I had noticed that my caregiving had meant a little less time for me but I really had NOT noticed the 60lbs and chronic pain and reflux had taken up the rest of my time. Life is GOOD however and my nearly 2 year old reminds me that I aint no spring-chicken and I best start taking care of what I have. I instantly think of Dr.Atkins and the 6 books of my library that I actually understand and comfort me for sure. So guess what, here I am and nope no "extended induction" for me (I wish!!). But here just the same. Great to see ya! Leslie

I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your father. It is now time to start taking care of you. Don't be a lurker~~~join in & find the support & encouragement that we all need. Post often, start a journal, join a challenge or two & ask questions. There is an abundance of knowledge here on ADBB. Make sure to take your measurements so you can keep track of inches lost! Keep a copy of DANDR close by for referral.

I am sorry to hear of your dad. Mine also passed at 58. Its time you look after you first. That makes you a great mom.

So sorry to hear about your father. Mine died at 54 from heart diease. He never got to see me this healthy. I would like to think he does though.

Thank you's for the support already. Tommorrow is the big day and so far its looking like eggy omlette's, tuna salad wraps and steak with asparagus, definantly a tasty menu here. Cant believe it still. My job outside of the home is to cook for a living and protien is always the stars so this WOL will work if I just give it half a chance. Thanks again. So, absalutly hate to admit that I have cheated and now am starting over, again. I have a the courage now to do it...have laid down my excuses and realized that it is really too bad that I didnt stick with it and gave up so easily. I have gained back 2 of the nearly 5lbs that I had lost and felt so great about. Was it worth it? NOOOO, defiantly not. But, today with an improved attitude and an hour long hike with my family under my belt I am truly ready. Cant get the rules out of my head so I know I can do this. Thank you ladies for all of your support. I am defianatly at it with a vengance. I have lost a total of 5.8 lbs since induction and am thrilled with the results. Took your advice on starting a journal and that is fun! Loving reading the other journals.
