    Hello,

I am on day 2 of induction and I would like to know your feelings on drinking diet soda........in moderation, of course. How many of you do it and if you do does it stall you?

    Jennifer

    Re: induction question

If you're going to drink pop I say only drink something that is sweetened with Splenda and that is caffeine free. I've been on Induction for 6 weeks now and I only drink Diet Rites every now and then as a treat almost. I've learned that if I eat too much splenda or drink too much pop it stalls me.

If you want a clean Induction stick to the foods that are on the allowed list, imo.

      Re: induction question

The last time I followed this WOE I had to stay away from splenda......it stalled me big time! I do like to drink an occasional diet coke at work. I don't drink more than 1 DC/12hr shift. I just feel like I need to treat myself with one occasionally.I also drink a cup of coffee a day, too.
I do follow a vey rigid induction, however, sticking to a very clean diet. I find that it makes induction easier to follow.
I guess my biggest concern is caffiene. I don't want to withdraw during induction and make it harder to withdraw from carbs.

        Re: induction question

I would say NO to the Diet Coke. If splenda stalls you apsartame will be much worse )aspartame is what sweetens Diet Coke, Pepsi, etc).

I was a HUGE caffeine addict and was able to kick the caffeine addiction in three days. I had horrible withdrawals and headaches but I was able to fight through it.

Things get easier after the third day of Induction. If you can have Diet Coke and it not affect you then do what's best for you. Just be careful and pay close attention to whether it stalls you or causes you to have cravings.

          Re: induction question

As has been said, we are allowed the sweeteners on the allowed list but only three servings a day. One serving of most drinks is reckoned to be 8 fluid ounces (2/3 of a can) so that will limit your intake hopefully.

Try to have any diet drinks as being extra to your daily water (8 x 8 ounces plus 8 extra ounces for every 25 pounds of weight you hope to lose)
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

              Re: induction question

I wouldn't drink it at all. I think it provides no good benefit to your body or to this way of eating.

                Re: induction question

When I drink diet it keeps my cravings going, I get hungry easier and it makes me drink less water. Plus, caffiene is a diuretic and it makes me pee more. I got off it for a long time then last week I started drinking it again (Why? I don't know) but I drank some for a few days and started having diarrhea and not only was I losing water that way, I also wasn't drinking very much so I started having bladder pain. So yeah, I got off that real quick.

If you can, since you are going to have a bit of an induction flu anyway, I would get off of it.

BUT, there are others here who have that as they cannot give up that one cup a day or one glass of diet coke a day and it doesn't stall them...it's just the majority it does. You would have to see if you are one of them. You should count a carb for each serving, though. Just because it says zero carbs, it could be up to 0.9 carb per serving and the manufacturer gets to claim zero. Hope this was helpful!

                  Re: induction question

When I drank diet soda it brought out a sugar-craving monster in me. I've noticed that it's hard for me to have Splenda. I can have Sweet-n-Low without problems, but Splenda is another story. I also get headaches from items sweetened with Splenda. I love the Mt. Olive sweet relish sweetened with Splenda, but everytime I eat it I end up with a headache. I enjoy the Torani and DaVinci syrups, but the same thing happens.
